This is a demand issue, not supply side. People are willing to pay for meat. When people stop paying prices will go back down.
It's really more of high fuel costs, driver/trucker shortages, higher priced feed and all supplies in all areas, higher worker pay due to shortages issue. It's not just "people will pay so we'll charge more".

Bacon prices are definitely on the rise, but I have not seen bacon anywhere near $12 a pound.

I shop at Publix in Birmingham. I never pay those prices though because Publix usually has a brand on sale for 2 for $10, or Buy One Get One Free. I buy 2 packs when they're on sale and freeze them. I probably have 5 or 6 pounds of bacon in my freezer.

I picked up some bacon the other day and was surprised my brand of choice (Wright’s) was on sale for $8.97 for a pound and one-half.

Go to any store that isn't a dollar general in your area and take a pic of the bacon section. You're lying.

The Kroger brand thick cut is rebranded wright. It’s solid.

If I ever get desperate enough to pay $12/pound for bacon shoot me.
You cook a pound and it shrivels up to about 4 ounces.
Give me sausage instead.

Wright's has been around $12 per pound for that same timeframe.
Agreed. It was around $9/pound at Wal-Mart, but I loathe that place. Will pay more not to have to go there.
And, bacon is not created equal. Cheap bacon is gross.

It's probably cheaper to just go to Wendys and buy a dozen Junior Bacon Cheeseburgers off the dollar menu, peel off the bacon strips and throw the rest of the crappy burger away.

$10.99 for a pound of Oscar Meyer bacon at my local Publix today. The other brands were all cheaper though.
