I think Acura still produces quality vehicles. They have always been comfortable with minimal consumer advertising, and instead standing on their solid reliability /affordability reputation. I find them to be sporty/classy, and they do have a solid repeat
Customer base. Unlike a lot of brands you don’t see
Trashy looking folks in Acura’s - just my experience.

It’s amazing that a four door Tesla will be just as fast and much cheaper than a car like the NSX.
Only from a standstill in a straight line, as long as the battery has enough juice.
A fully loaded one is well over $100k too.

The design quality at Acura is terrible. There's no effort to push the envelope in any way. Even their latest infotainment and technology is a decade behind the best.
I think it started when they replaced the Legend with the boring RL.
BMW, Audi, Cadillac, Tesla, Genesis, and Lincoln are doing legitimately interesting things with their cars. Acura is just treading water.

I've always been of the mindset that I'd prefer to buy a high end Toyota than a luxury brand like Acura or Lexus. Repairs and maintenance are cheaper and get more bang for your buck.

Honda hasn't made a sports car wearing the parent badge in 10 years. That's a bigger issue.

Inside the dealer network, this is true but if you switch to a quality Indy shop post-warranty the labor will be the same and most aftermarket parts (even OE) are pretty similar especially those that mean the difference between going and stopped. This is especially true with cars the brands have analogs. Maintaining the Lexus F cars can be more expensive since many of the parts aren't as common.
I am not saying your premise doesn't work for a lot of people but the main differentiation is upfront cost and insurance.

I had a 95 2.5 tl with an inline 5 cyl.
Loved that thing.

That weird G25. While I have owned one (in an Audi Quattro) I never understood them. Bigger than an I-4 and lacking the inherent 1st and 2nd order balance of an I-6. That said the G25 in the Vigor and TL were indeed good engines.

The CVT is killing Infiniti.
Turns a car into an appliance. Worst invention ever.
Too costly to rebuild. Kills performance (see older model Altima 3.5 -- MT and conventional automatics beat the shite out of CVT head to head; same engine).
The CVT should've stayed where it belonged, on 3hp lawnmower engine powered mini-bikes and go carts.
I'll never buy one. I can tolerate conventional automatics but prefer my cars to have 3 pedals. The CVT is the result of government fuel economy regulations and it might get 1 mpg better on the highway, so therefore Nissan decides to remove all other choices. Absolutely brilliant! LMAO.
CVT has killed the entire Nissan brand. Remember their old ad campaign :Shift_Nissan?
I've owned an Altima 3.5 SE 5-MT sedan, and an Infiniti G37 Sport 6-MT sedan. Both cars were surprisingly quick and both were fun to drive.
I'll never buy another Nissan and that's too bad because the VQ series engines are the shite.
I've been forced to turn to European cars to get that 3rd pedal in something that's not an econobox or a 2 seater.
Thanks USGOV for your gay fuel economy standards, and thanks Nissan for totally cucking.

Like Lexus, the people who designed the front enda took too much acid.
Ugly AF.

I have a qx, and I love it. The front end design leaves a lot to be desired, and the interior technology is stuck around 2010. But it’s an absolute dream to drive. I have had many different brands of car, and this one is the quietest, smoothest car I’ve ever had. It beats the Lexus by quite a lot. Add to that the amazing 4x4 system/awd, plus a incredibly powerful v8 that doesn’t pull that v4 mode crap and it’s a winner in my book.

I have a 2010 TSX that I bought in 2013. I am not a car guy and it meets my needs: perfect size (not too big, not too small), sufficient power, impeccably reliable.
Soon after I bought it, they discontinued the TSX and the model one size bigger; the new smaller model was essentially a Civic from what I could tell.
I'll want a new car soon - if Acura isn't reliable anymore, what is in the 30K range?
I had a Camry once - despite the reputation, it rivaled only my VW Dasher from c. 1980 for unreliability; the May 95 flood bailed me out and I bought a used Legend (great car!) with the proceeds.

Speaking of Acura, I have a 2006 TL and the leather on the front seats are starting to rip (poor quality). How do I go about fixing that? Junk yard or upholstery joint? Hook up a brotha

Almost 14 yrs of service and the leather is poor quality?

I have had 5 Honda's over 30 years. One thing I noticed on my 2010 Civic was a total lack of awareness of the design team. For no reason known to man they put the parking brake ahead of the shifter and then decided to make 100% sure you could repeatedly hit it with your knee by bending it into the cockpit. Traded it for an Accord quickly but their legendary attention to detail was missing. On my 13 Accord I have seen a few quality issues that never occurred before. Had to replace the postive battery cable dues to corrosion after 4 years and Honda flat out told me it wasn't under warranty because it was a "wear" item. I complained to corporate and got refunded but just the idea of claiming something like this is not covered is a joke

It is just a Honda that is loaded.

The 2007-2010 Accord 4 cyl had issues with the rings. It was a known defect but Honda tried to be difficult about it. The girl I was dating had one and she took it in to get the oil change and they told her it was low. Then next time, same thing. I started monitoring it and it was getting worse quickly. We took it to Team Honda and they made up some bullshite, but Googling led me me to a known issue. We went back and they fixed it for $600, which after further pursuit of the issue directly with Honda, they eventually refunded.
I had this exact problem with a 2010 Nissan Altima. Nissan would not budge or admit it was abnormal for the car to burn through a quart of oil in 2,000 miles. The car wasn’t super high miles either. Less than 100k for sure. I won’t own another Nissan thanks to that BS.
