Towne South Ave, Bles Dr, and Avis Ave I imagine we’re always shite holes in close proximity to the Starring Hotel and were never nice areas. Pockets close to Perkins that are actually hood.

Thanks for your service sir!
But your 2 drive through visits to Detroit and Windsor don’t make you any more of an expert on those cities than I am with my 2 trips to Detroit.

So, if all the rich people are leaving, who is buying all of these houses?
Who knows - I can’t even begin to describe the downward spiral my neighborhood has taken in 10 years. The first 5/6 were great - someone hit the gas on the last few years.
I hate to say this, but it really took a turn for the worst when organizations started buying the homes and using them for group homes.

Look to Shreveport. That's BR future.

I see this being a trend. A lot of posters on here say the exact same thing.

I think I know which neighborhood you are in based on past conversations and we looked at houses in there 7-8 years ago when we were shopping. Our neighborhood is still pretty nice but it's only a matter of time due to the location I think.

This is the nicest house I’ve ever lived in, so it’s a real shame how crap it’s gotten.

I have actually been to Detroit a few times.
My friend who retired from the Navy from Detroit bought an old mfg warehouse dirt cheap and lives inside of it in a small air conditioned area.
His wife and he work on old cars and restore them which he likes the huge covered building to securely store cars along with working on them. Outside they have a nice size vegetable
garden.
It similar to living in North Baton Rouge infront of Exxon. They have blocks and blocks of overgrown vacant lots and a few buildings people bought for cheap to live in or run a business. Same issues if you want to get groceries or supplies you have to drive outside the area.
They have a lot of bad parts of Detroit, some nice parts, downtown area, and some decent suburbs around the city.

quote:Ilitch was a goddamn hero. You can always argue about what a billionaire "ought" to spend his money on, but in his own realm he practically put Detroit on his back and carried it through a time when it could have literally disintegrated. End point is still to be seen but it sure looks promising now for the city.
Incredible downtown architecture spearheaded by the revitalization efforts of the Ilitch family.
His pizza still sucked, though.

shite I think most of the OT knows where I live because I've posted it. There are 460'ish houses in my neighborhood though

Downtown Detroit wasn't too bad last time I went in maybe 2010. But drive in any direction away from downtown and it's crap until you hit a suburb. Crazy that it was once the wealthiest city in the country.

Yeah - I haven’t driven around your hood enough to find your truck … but if there are 6 kids on the doorstep - you’ll know it’s me
Just would like to go to the grocery by myself for once

Go to Bocage where you can get burgled by the Airline hoodrats,
Go to Mid-city/Garden District where you can get burgled by the NBR hoodrats,
Go to Hundred Oaks where you can get burgled and caught up in a home invasion by the Bawell St hoodrats.
It’s gotten to the point where no one is safe in BR. Violent crime can victimize you anywhere in the city.

I can guarantee it will be much worse than it is now. And that goes for pretty much anywhere.

Or to St George where you can be shot or burgled by hood rats from O’Neal lane or any of the apartments along Coursey
Posted on 7/17/21 at 1:55 pm to GreenRockTiger
Don’t forget about Siegan Lane…it’s becoming a war zone as well.

I used to live in Manchester a long time ago. That's those ghetto apartments at O'Neal and S Harrells Ferry. Jay's Donuts dude warned that building St Jean would destroy that area and it kind of did but Manchester is even worse now.

Did you get a look at Johannesburg and Pretoria after this week? Like that.

Baton Rouge will probably be 70-75% black.
