I’m Southern Baptist but do not frown upon the cold one from time to time. But, I would say if the event is at the in-laws house, then you should honer their rules. Your house or neutral site, then you decide. You should know there could be some conflict though if you choose to indulge.

I’m in the same boat, except without the BS. My in laws never had a technical “no alcohol” rule; however, when they hosted, their preferences prevailed.
BYOB and don’t be a douche. I’m 17 years deep and the in-laws fridge is conveniently stocked with any leftover singles, and more since they know what I like.
