Why are you hunting it every day?

You'd better find them now or you'll likely be dead before you can carry out much of your plan. Bad people already have packs of like-minded people and as soon as law and order breaks down, they'll be hunting.

And 20 acres? Is that a joke? How much game do you think is on 20 acres if you are hunting it every day?

You missed the part that I have 165 acres behind me with permission to hunt it.

No need to hunt it every day. Supplement with the garden, existing food stores, ducks, chickens, and the pond. I'm not saying it would be easy, but we are much better set up than most. My biggest concern would be fuel. If I can't run a generator periodically I lose 2 deep freezers of meat and cannot run my well water pump.

GSP vs the elusive deer just now.

As mentioned earlier are you putting a deer in a freezer? Do you know how to preserve the meat with no electricity? Let's say you just average one deer a week, those deer aren't going to stick around to be shot one by one. Then you are after small game and in that case, yes, you are hunting every day.

i feel like a lot of the people in these threads have never actually lived in the sticks. living in houston or baton rouge and having a hunting camp 100% does not count.

there would be roving bands of criminals in the sticks, stealing and killing everything they can get their hands on. people forget how much of the rural population is elderly and/or in poor health. there are
A LOT of marks/liabilities. it's not all super capable, gunslinging outdoorsmen. in fact, they are a small minority.

It’ll be back up within a week. Sooner if you’re in a city. City folks win again. Good luck with your hunt.

Even what passes for deer in the south should last longer than a week.

And why are you limited to your 20 acres for the rest of your life?

How long could you survive without power? I am talking about an extended period of time. I heard some experts say, that most people in big cities would die within 2 weeks. Does this sound logical?

did 6 weeks without it during laura, but we also had gas, generators etc

i will say this, my father is in politics and having to help him all day long...many wouldnt survive if the whole US went down. its crazy how helpless people are.

That's still insufficient.

With a quick google search, it seems like Mississippi has the highest average deer density with 38 per square mile. Your 20 plus the 165 is 185 acres which is a little over a quarter of a square mile. So you are talking less than 10 deer on that land. That doesn't even take into account those other neighbors who also only have 20 acres of land.

Even supplementing with a garden (do you have heirloom seeds?) livestock (hope they don't get sick, succumb to a predator) fish in pond will even run dry if you are overfishing it to survive day to day.

My mom has deer that walk up to her back gate demanding to be feed every day. The first time I plug one that ends. Your semi-tame deer will go the way of unprepared people.

No way, he has got tame deer that eat out of his hand. He will just be able to walk among them and select the fattest one when needed.

No way the people that own the 165 acres would have a problem with him hunting on their land while they are starving.

Hell, what will even "owning" land even mean when there is no government there to enforce it?

I'm not sure how having existing food storage, an entire cow in the freezer, a garden, duck eggs, chicken eggs, fish, and access to game is insufficient?

I guess the deer on the property didn't get the memo that their should only be less than 10 of them. We've seen 10+ in the field at a time.

Look, if y'all saw what I see on a daily basis in T&D project management, you'd be amazed your lights are working on a random Tuesday, let alone after a catastrophic event. Most people don't realize the tightrope being walked every day with our existing grid infrastructure.

Sorry, I missed the troll job. I asked if it was a joke at first and now I know it is. My fault for biting the hook.
