re: What's everyone's opinion on Garth Brooks (as a person / not an artist)?

dickhead, most hated singer in county music

Probably very generous, maybe has a high opinion of himself, too philosophical, too liberal to realize that there is right and wrong.

Want to hear cringe?

I have seen him three times, in an arena it seems like it is always the same show
but his all acoustic set in his Vegas residency was pretty amazing
he has perfected the awe shucks, I’m so grateful persona
hard to believe it is genuine

I respected him as an artist doing his own thing, but I never got the hype for this man. The music isn't that good.
George Strait I can understand. The man is the modern legend. I get it. Garth Brooks? LOL nah.
There are only two country artist/bands I'd ever buy tickets to: George Strait and Brooks and Dunn.
I was offered a chance to get Garth Brooks tickets and turned them down. Callin' Baton Rouge has triggered me to the point of psychosis. I've heard it enough in Tiger Stadium its my #1 most hated song.

I feel the exact same way. Saw the Vegas show and truly thought I saw something incredible. I was on the edge of my seat with every story, hook, line, and sinker. Then when his Vegas time was up he did a live version of this on network TV and everyone loved it. I was bored bc it was the exact same speel.
Been to see him twice since, sane exact shite. I've done a total 180 on him. Still like his songs but the dude is a nerdy douchebag. Every single time he does on of those "yeahhhhhhhh" screams to get the crowd going I cringe so hard. This dude can't be genuine.

Now back on topic.
He has definitely created an image that works for him and I think to some degree its who he is, but he has magnified it.
I remember watching a documentary on Macho Man Randy Savage and I think Hulk Hogan said that Macho Man created his character and he became that character in real life.. I think that happens to people when they have to maintain a certain imagine, but on the other hand.. He is human so he isn't perfect. But I am sure he does put on a hell of a show.

A living legend. Like I mentioned before, I am not that big of a country music fan, but I love George Strait and no one will ever come close to him.

Same thing happened with Brian Bosworth
and the BOZ.

Holy shite. You actually said something coherent, correct and straight to the point.

My dad sold him the glass block he used when building his house in Edmond, OK in the 90s.
There were a couple times in high school where my friends and I drove to the outside of his property with the intention of hopping the fence and having a look around, but we pussy’ed out every time.

Overrated and pop not country

Dunno. Never met the guy.

He's a total loser. Any interview I've ever seen especially the last few year has been cringe. He's got a sirius channel but it sucks every time he says anything in between songs is awkward and they play terrible stuff (not his own stuff)
I do enjoy a good live Garth show though
Also him and Trisha are fat as shite these days

My wife has his XM channel on pretty regular in her car. I always cringe when he talks between songs because he’s a fricking creeper.

Dude is super cringe. Like even when you ask him something simple like his favorite color, he gives some deep philosophical answer
Besides that there really isn’t something to complain about. He keeps his politics to himself which is a nice change
