I did miss the fire sale part, my bad
As far as the whole of Harris county, as defined by geographic boundaries, it's in the city of Houston.

These threads always make me laugh. Ppsqf is a terrible comparison unless you're in the same neighborhood.
People come into these threads and try to compare a house in Alexandria to old Metairie...

Whats the best average dollar per sqft for a home?
If your game is investment, $500/sf could be a steal, and $90/sf could be a ripoff.
If you're simply looking to be happy in a place for 15-20yrs, shop around, then be your own judge as to value.

How big is the home though?
There's a few I've been at that is around $108 but get me 3400 sqft...
Somewhere around 1900 sqft.
I wish mine was about like yours.

We have some of the lowest priced real estate in the country here in the Indianapolis area, median list price is ~$100/sq ft.

Hey homeowner baws, how much is too much for the price of square foot for a home?
I have seen as high as $172!! Is this the new norm?
What would yall consider average?
You clearly don't know anything about real estate. Different cities, neighborhoods, size of homes, etc....there's so many factors that go into price per sq ft. Typically smaller houses will be higher per sq ft than larger homes. That's about the only consistent metric, and that's only compares to others in the same area.

Prices in W STT are BS right now, definitely need a correction in housing prices in the area.
At the current rate I'll need to hit the lottery same near to build the house I have plans for.

I paid $101 in Alvin-Pearland area. I would say in the Gulf South $125 would be avg for new construction

Since this is literally my first home yes, clearly I am trying to grab information due to lack of knowledge.
But be a dickhead in the morning.

My bad, my apologies
I guess I'm just surprised is all. There's a lot of variation in price per sq ft as I'm sure the thread hopefully noted on the many ways. The money talk has a TON of information on real estate in general. Much of it is about being a landlord, but there's also a good bit of information for home ownership in general. I'd give some of the threads in the sticky a look.

All good
Yeah, I need to take a look at the sticky thread there and read a bit today.

There were more than one. Look at this gem.
Average for a nice home in Baton Rouge would be $250-$375. Luxury homes or desirable neighborhoods easily twice that in this area. Just entry level starter homes anywhere from 130-$200 My daughter and husband are in Brooklyn and they paid over $1,000 per sq" ...and it's a very small, very average, home. If you just want an efficiency, budget one bedroom, 800 sq' apartment in Manhattan....they start at over $2,000,000. That's basically just a crash pad with one window, kitchenette, and toilet.
Dude was claiming that it is 500-750 to be in a desirable neighborhood .....in Baton Frickin Rouge! LOL.
Come on man, that is so message board hyper inflated it's comical.
