No boston, no allman bros, no van halen, no Steve miller band, no who, no motley crue, no rush.
It's not 1985 anymore dude
I listen to a lot of rock & metal, but mostly from 2000s on up.

My opinion: the worst music EVER made was the whining, blacklove crap from the 80s/90s like BoyzIIMen, etc. I HATE it but my lady loves it.
You need to turn her on to the raunchy '70s era Motown. Any black dude named Marvin is a good starting point.

I'm a 30something.
I grew up listening to classic rock with my parents and radio pop and extremely mainstream "alternative" rock by myself.
I still listen to a shite-ton of classic rock, but I appreciate music as an artistic expression far more now than when I was younger, so I focus mostly on artsy singer-songwriters whether it be rock, post-punk. country, whatever: Dylan, Beatles, Kinks, TVZ, Kate Bush, Eno, Peter Gabriel, etc. I have a very curated appreciation for rap - maybe a half dozen artists, its not something I can zone out to. This is not remotely normal behavior for people my age - but it also isn't normal for anyone of any age.
I'll speak for the young white women I know, even the sweetest, meekest, quietest little church girls seem to absolutely love EDM once they hit 18.

Pop culture. Now men are as gullible as women.

Rush sucks.
I agree.
My favorite Rush story from my youth was that I had a teacher that was a huge lib and was a Rush (the band) fan. He even had a poster of the band in his classroom.
One day another teacher had a conversation with him about Rush (the talk show host), and he didn’t know the difference.

There are plenty of young rock bands out there. War on Drugs, Carseat Headrest, Thee OH Sees, Daniel Ratliffe, King Gizzard and the list goes on and on.

There, I said it.
Yeah, supreme talent and meaningful lyrics are for people with bad taste...
Rush penned some of the best political songs of all time. Their music is above the level of understanding of most people.

Dancing most certainly gets you laid. Musical genre is not that important. Being a great dancer would help but being fun to dance with is what matters. A subtle but important distinction.

A lot of today's "country" sounds a lot like 80s rock and roll
