No. If you're scheduling play-dates for your dog, you have way too much time on your hands.

The "dregs of society" as you call them are all well to do, entitled baby-boomers and their kids and grandkids.

People you call respectable.

People are assholes in general.

Dogs are not.

I don't mind the dogs in public places that permit it but I don't like the folks that are buying the fake service animal vests and using that to bring their dogs into retail stores and restaurants.

You ever think that if you keep running into assholes all day that maybe you’re the a-hole?

What “public service” do you do? That’s a pretty broad job description.

I manage restaurants.

Trust me: majority of people are assholes.

Ah, the ole “but children can be annoying!” retort. A common go-to for those 30 somethings who have no children and pretend like their dog is their child and their mother is the dog’s grandma. So immature and sad. The fact that you even bring children in as a comparison shows how much growing up you have to do. One day maybe you will grow up and realize how deluded you were into putting dogs on pedestals and viewing children as just annoying inconveniences.
I have kids ages 30, 22, 21, 10. I'd rather the dogs than your kids.

I never bring my dogs to public places because they are a nuisance but I love dogs and enjoy seeing them out in public, especially if they are friendly. Someone had a golden doodle on the patio of Bengal tap room the other day and it was friendly.. sniffed around and came tell me hi without the owner realizing it. I pay him a few times and he walked away.

Why so dogs bother you so much, OP?

You sure it couldn’t just be your clientele that’s Or, as I asserted earlier, if you keep running into assholes all over the place, you’re probably the a-hole.

I deal with a whole lot of people each and every day, I wouldn’t consider the majority or even a quarter of them to be assholes.

I'm with OP.

If it were just the kind of bars where people wear sandals that suffered from this new dog thing, I could suffer it without comment.

Last weekend, though, I stayed at the Westin Peachtree Plaza in Atlanta, and at least two groups in the check-in line with
me had dogs with them.

IDK what my wife paid for a room at that place, but I'm sure it's well in excess of what I want to pay for the privilege of staying with frickin' dogs.

It's generally white people that do this, too. Apparently black people aren't stupid enough to pay good money to stay in a room with frickin' dogs. Good for them.

The dogs allowed everywhere doesn't bother me on the surface. But, I think it's inherently selfish. Just because you like your dog doesn't mean everyone else will. And I really don't understand why one person's comfort is more important than another's in a public space. That being said, I don't get upset by it personally. I like dogs. But I do just assume the person with the dog is either too damaged to leave their house without a crutch or in desperate need if attention.

I’m sorry you have such a large void in your life that your emotional stability relies on the presence of your animal 24/7.

Bringing a dog to a dog friendly pub =\= this

I’m sorry you have such a poor personality that you use your dog as a personality replacement.

This has nothing to do with taking a dog out in public.

Maybe look into getting mental health treatment or bettering yourself in general instead of subjecting everyone and their children to potentially being scratched or bitten by your dog.

This is coming from the guy with an odd shoe obsession.

Even if your dog would never harm a flea, it’s still taking up space and bringing dirt and hair into areas where people are eating and trying to relax away from their own dogs.

Do you only go to indoor festivals? What festival doesn’t have dirt around? My dog is probably cleaner than most people that are out and about.

And your dog must really suck if you have to get away to relax.

To preface, I have neither dogs nor children.

With that said, if I walk into a space and have the choice to sit near a table with a dog or a table with a child, I'm picking the table with the dog every time.

I find it telling that the bulk of your complaint about dogs is that you find it stressful for them to be around your children, not because they are any kind of issue for the adults in the room.

I have dogs, and if I was with out a dog, I would pick the table away from the kids, too. I understand if irresponsible people aren't monitoring their dogs and letting them off lead, that's dumb. I was in Ouray, CO recently at Red Mountain brewing with one of my dogs and had just ordered a beer and burger and a friend of the owner showed up with her dog that started being a PITA and I went and put mine in the vehicle and went back to the table. She left and the owner comp'd my food and beer, told me to go get my dog, and brought me another beer and discussed his brew pub and the GABF, guess he likes dogs and customers with dogs that act rationally.

Sounds like you got humped by the neighbor’s dog one too many times as a kid.
