We have done both TN and SC they were okay but I listed several places I’ve brought the kids that we have really enjoyed.

NYC and DC are perfect at that age (also Niagara falls)
CA (San Francisco, San Diego, and/ or the redwoods)
Philadelphia and Hershey PA
Montana (Glacier NP)
Yellowstone
Grand Canyon
Seattle
The keys
Rocky Mountain NP

Grand Canyon or something out west like that is next on my list of trips I'd like to do.

If you actually want to hike down into the canyon summer is the LAST time of year you want to go.

Temps at the bottom of the canyon are usually the same 3 digit temps in Phoenix.

We went to Disney last Thanksgiving and have been three times in the last four years. Gonna have to pass on that one.

Best time for the Grand Canyon is right after Christmas. There are less people there at that time.We stopped once during the summer and it was like the Tower of Babel, crowds of people from every country.

We were at the Grand Canyon this past June. It wasn't all that crowded. Never had a problem finding a parking spot at any of the places we went in the park. It was the first week of June though. I'd imagine it gets more crowded later in the summer. Definitely a lot of foreigners though.

I agree but you need to give them a list (including what you’d see/do) to pick from...at that age it’s hard for them to think outside what they know.

Hard no on pigeon forge. I’d suggest somewhere out west. Plenty of national parks with much better scenery

+1, horrible food, boring, and has the worst of fat, middle America congregating all in one location.

Dolly world or whatever it was called was decent.

GC was so commercialized as was Yellowstone.

Did Bryce as a young teen with family, and my favorite. That place likely has changed, but real log cabins from local pines with stone fireplace as only source of heat. Trails down into the canyon that a middle school kid would be fine doing alone.

Duluth, Minnesota is pretty cool, just make sure pack a hoodie. Watching the big ore freighters go under the aerial lift bridge plus a drive up the North Shore is amazing.

Fly into Mizzoula, stay on Flathead Lake, and do a couple days in Glacier. Profit.

You're going to be guaranteed 80 degrees and sunny every day (until you get to elevation).

Go out west

Only vacationing at the beach is trashy the kids deserve better. Let them experience more of the country
