I like the 5.0L’s power. It is probably my favorite current half ton truck engine
That's the best mass manufactured motor of all time to me. Absolutely insane to stop making that motor.
Chevys 5.3 vortec was a good on but their 08-13 model Silverados were absolute dogshit. Especially their front ends

We’ve got a 250 from 1999 still rolling. And we’ve got a 2019 150 with no issues.

I had a 2018 but the transmission went out at 80k miles.

I have a 2017 XLT FX4 with the 5.0 V8. 151K miles. It’s been the best truck I’ve ever owned. Only repairs I’ve ever needed was a water pump and heater hose. Other than that just routine maintenance. My hope is to drive it to 200k before I need a new one.

Toyota's 4.7L is pretty bulletproof too. Lots of 1st generation Tundras on the road.

My opinion:
2011-2014 5.0
2013-2014 3.5
2016-2017 5.0 or 3.5
2022+ 5.0 or 3.5 built after August 16 2022 (for updated CDF drum in the 10 speed)
2018-2020 is the worst as they have the shitty cam phasers and the shitty CDF drum.
Also FYI 2023+ ECM is locked and no company has figured out how to unlock them for tuning yet so the only option is the piggyback JB4 tuner.

I watched the video and the fella gave the Gen 1 Ecoboost a1/10 and said he wanted to give it a 0/10.
I have a 2011 Ecoboost (Gen 1) 4x4 with 260+k miles. Had to replace the lower part of the transmission ($1000) and it has the cam phaser rattle now. Otherwise, it’s been great for me.
Also own a 2001 5.4 Triton 4x4 with 330+k miles. Its had the main seal/gasket (?) replaced in the engine block and a thorough overhaul of sorts by a mechanic (hoses, etc.).
I’d be hard pressed to not buy another F150 when I’m ready.

Almost all the model years with cam phaser issues can be traced to two things: too thin oil for CAFE standards and following OEM extended drain intervals. That applies to GM's engine issue too with AFM. 5W-20 is not good for any truck engine, even worse when pushed to 10k mile OCI's. Full synthetic 5W-30 or 10W-30 with 5K OCI's, I have always used that in my F150 and every other vehicle I've owned no matter what engine was in it. I've switched my vehicles over to Valvoline Restore & Protect 5w-30 for the last 6 months, newer engines do not tolerate varnish and sludge build-up and the first thing that will go out are cam phasers or anything else that require precisely metered oil flow to activate.

Those are going to be the trucks in 20 years worth a shite load of money like the 97 Ford OBS - 7.3 turbos are now
If I had the money I would buy a 5.7 tundra with low miles and put it in a garage and just go crank it snd drive it a mile or so each month and change the oil and just wait.
Those are going to be worth a fortune as everyone goes electric and with the new gay twin turbo v6's

I’ve had an ‘08 for about 15 years. Has around 140k on it. Will drive it til the wheels fall off
I have a 2017 F250 with 225k and it’s just getting broke in. Maintain them and they last. Pretty much any of them.

I can confirm this. My 2018 had 2 cam phaser jobs under warranty and then my transmission went out after warranty expired at 80k miles. I traded it it after all that.

My 2018 had to get a new engine (5.0) at 100k, and it’s got the 10spd transmission which sucks. Best one I’ve had was a 2012 5.0 with the 6 spd transmission. Got 400k trouble free miles out of it.

Another vote for 2014. Mine has the 6.2 V-8 with 185,000 miles or so.
Other than regular maintenance I've changed the water pump as mentioned above, a $75 emissions sensor where fuel goes into the engine and most recently a fuse to the fuel pump. I was worried it was the fuel pump itself, but a $.30 fuse fixed it. Pro-tip: I has 2 fuel pump fuses.

Definitely not the ones where they made aluminum beds. Freaking idiots. Those were like 2014-2015 I believe. Dumbest shyt ever...

I've got a 2017 F150 FX4 with 5.0 and the 6 speed transmission. have about 147,500 miles on it.
last year with the 6 speed transmission and no auto start/stop. 2018 they put auto start/stop and went to the 10 speed transmission.
I've had replace something in the rear end that was making a high pitch wheezing noise a couple of years ago, the heater hose, and last year the intake manifold. other than that, just routine maintenance.

Way more 4.7's have done that than 5.7's, not even close really, as long as those 4.7's got their timing belts serviced every 100k or less. Also replacing the cam seals, water pump, etc as part of that service wasn't a bad idea either. Same can be said for Nissan VK V8's, Ford 2V Tritons, pre-AFM GM V8's, etc. Friend of mine has an old Econoline with a 2V 5.4L with 660K+ on it, nothing but Castrol GTX and changes the oil every 5 - 6k. Maintenance is the key to anything lasting, part of why Toyota and Honda got their reputations for durability was because since their buyers paid more, the were more conscientious of maintenence. No engine will last very long if the oil isn't changed as needed.
