It’s maddening how there are absolute trash slums right there in the hearts of almost all our American cities. What should be centrally located thriving communities are just rot.

Take the blinders off - there was hood rat crime in BR for forever. There’s going to be with a major university and as the state capital. Dumbasses thinking shite didn’t happen pre-Katrina need to come out of their caves.

Thank you. Thought I was taking crazy pills reading this thread.

I moved to BR in 89 as a kid and The Bottom was bad news at least since the early 90s. Same with Plank Road, Glen Oaks and a few other places.

We moved away right after Katrina so no clue what happened after…maybe it made things worse but it certainly wasn’t the cause.

Sherwood & Coursey - been here - 16 1/2 years - I’ve seen it decline in the past 3 - 5 and that’s because of the wonderful businesses that have been put in the area

Cool. I grew up there. Live close by and still have a house in Sherwood.

The Section 8 housing on Sherwood is a direct result of Katrina.

You are completely obtuse if you say otherwise.

Section 8

Possibly the most destructive program in our beloved government’s history. It’s a cancer our government keeps injecting into our neighborhoods.

No it’s not - that is the direct result of greedy landlords and piss poor politicians passing shitty ordinances regarding who has to take section 8 and who doesn’t.

Plus the boom of group homes in the Sherwood/Shenandoah area has not helped - I don’t care what the ‘research’ shows - the crime in the area has gotten worse, the drugs have gotten worse because of these ‘rehabbed’ people.
And don’t get me started on the hookah lounges and hair places.

Not recognizing that BR had poor people, blacks, and gangster activity pre-Katrina is obtuse. FFS No Limit records was out of Baton Rouge in the late 90s
