Progressive liberals probably designed them to look “inclusive”.

How long does it take to get up and down one of those if you are towards the very top? Seems like you'd almost have to adjust elevator time into any type of commute you would do.

The last one just bothers me because it dwarfs a classic. It messes up the skyline IMO.

Love the New Skyscraper in OKC ...Put that city on the map ; otherwise a bland old boring skyline like Memphis

Wish BR LA had a new Skyscraper ....nothing Taller than 12 stories since the late 80's; while Austin & Nashville Skylines continue to grow

Wish the Trump tower in New Orleans would’ve passed. Talk about a place that needs a upgrade

Is there an appeal to a studio? Do people even really want it? I don’t understand having a big studio like that. It was purpose built that way, why would you specifically not want a bedroom.
I guess I always assumed studios were converted spaces and had to be cheaper. I don’t get it

Hancock Whitney Center (taller than Driskill Mountain)

Best looking 10+ story building from the 1960s to the present in NOLA's skyline is the 39 story Energy Centre, designed by HKS:

Imagine all skyscrapers looking the same, like some suburban mcmansion.

Then there would be some bitching.

Fun fact: skyscrapers are built to allow for a small degree of "sway"

The average (depends on the cladding) allowable drift is H/360. That's almost 3 feet of drift in all directions for a 1,000' building.

For the Burj Khalifa the allowable drift is a little over 7.5'.

They represent a new class of skyscrapers called super skinnies.

Super talls/Pencils are a direct result of permitting and restrictions.

Also a great way to make money for the surrounding buildings selling their air rights.
