Think about it - some people are loud as hell in restaurants and some aren’t.

Last Christmas my wife and I went out just us two at a very nice reservation only expensive upscale restaurant. Had a guy playing a Baby Grand piano softly playing Christmas music, nice cocktails, wonderful Michelin star food, river view, etc. Some lady about 4 tables over had one too many glasses of Chardonnay and was loud as frick. I heard all about her kitchen remodel, step by step, etc (like I cared). I’m over here paying about $50-60 per plate plus drinks, for a quiet, pre-hustle bustle moment with my wife, but I couldn’t even hear her over this 60+ year old woman.

My point is kids are fricking kids. If you’re a parent, that shite doesn’t bother you because we’ve all been there. But a grown arse post-menopausal chatty Cathy is the second most annoying thing in the world. (First are people on speaker full voice in public- but that’s off topic).

You’re probably not a parent, or you only have a newborn. You’ll mellow with age about it. Because kids are cute and full of joy and wonder. Old non-stop talking women are just fricking annoying.

Consideration for other people is lost in America. I have two kids, they aren’t/weren’t little assholes while in public.

I don’t really understand this, I know planes have almost a natural built in “white noise” from the cabin and engine. I would not think a kid would be talking loud enough to disturb you.

I won’t be one to let my kids run around the restaurant unattended when they are of that age, but as far as loud… The last 3 semi nice restaurants I went to, I could hear multiple tables erupt with laughter or loud obnoxious talking. All adults.
So why are adults allowed to act loud in public?

This is the crux of the matter. Well said.

My kids say the please, thank you, yes sir, yes ma’am, and hold doors open. Just like I do.

There’s a lot of people that don’t do that. There’s no licensing requirements for having kids.

But my kids are kids. Sometimes they kick each other under the table and one loudly tells the other to stop being an arse. Because they are kids. They have better impulse control than most adults but can still be jerks. Just like me.

The more honest post here is “Why do people feel they are allowed to be loud in public?” Like the person at the gym walking slowly on the treadmill having a loud conversation on their speaker phone.

Ain't this the truth. I have a small gym in my apartment I'll go to for some light cardio if the weather is rough, and a surprising amount of people will have full throat conversations or play their music or show without headphones. Baffling behavior.

The 11 th commandment ought to be "Thou shalt not raise obnoxious a-hole children".

Parents due to huge disservice to their children by allowing them to be jerks. What purpose is there to sabotaging your child be teaching them to be unlikeable little jerks that no one enjoys being around.

Then such parents lament how their poor babies are so mistreated by teachers, shunned by other kids and that everyone is so mean to them.

Their parents are probably pedophiles and fricking their kids.

That's why.

Crying babies I despise but understand that's beyond anyone's ability.

They should be left on the ground. Their little ears can't handle the pressure. Let the grandparents travel to them.

They can fly when their 25 or so.
