However, when the airport was just redesigned you have shake your head.

The whole 'well it sucks in other places too' point sort of misses here because WE JUST DESIGNED A BRAND NEW AIRPORT AND THIS IS WHAT WE HAVE.

The idea that we are going to build this shiny new terminal located completely apart from every bit of existing infrastructure we have, including Interstate access, rental cars, parking garages, etc., is basically Mitch Landrieu, New Orleans, and the State of Louisiana in a nutshell.

Again, I fly weekly. As another poster has already stated, it’s about the organization and the fact that it’s a brand new facility. There are things to love about and defend Louisiana for, this is not one of them.

The worst part about MSY is that the actual travel experience was better and more efficient at the OLD airport. Now after all the money spent, there is a pretty building but getting anywhere takes 4 times as long. Access via surface streets, rental cars on the other side of the world, and don’t even get me started on the Uber/Lyft nonsense.

When I was flying out of there every week, my time from walking off the plane to walking into my house went from 15-20 minutes to over an hour when the new terminal opened. It was absolutely insane.

Equally as fricked up is the severe lack of parking availability. I’ve been to the airport on multiple
Occasions where there isn’t an available parking space other than at the old terminal.

Yep, almost missed our family flight because of airport parking. Never had an issue at the old airport.

The old airport was better. I can’t stand the new one and I don't even have to rent a car. We didn’t need a new airport. It’s not like it’s crowded.

And the Delta Sky Club is just as big of a fiasco. 45 min waits to get in are now a regular occurrence.

Because everything is harder with the new terminal because it wasn’t well thought out. Security is slower. Getting there from I-10 is slower. Parking is slower and more congested. Baggage claim is slower. The ride share setup is worse than the old terminal, and the rental car garage is on the wrong side of the fricking airport.

And nothing pisses me off more than arriving to my home airport and wasting time with long shuttles, long walks to my car, or having issues with ride share. The terminal is very nice (gorgeous even), but it doesn’t make up for those shortcomings.

I basically fly BTR now unless MSY has a direct flight.
