Feels like even Lincoln is leaving them in the dust with the Navigator and Aviator. Just watched Doug Demuro's video on the Aviator and it's a seriously nice vehicle.

In its heyday, nobody held a candle to Cadillac in terms of luxury and technology.

That is rather romanticized, while they built some great cars pre-war they were up against cars like:

Rolls-Royce
Bugatti
Auburn
Duesenberg
Mercedes-Benz
Talbot-Lago
Lancia
Cord

Probably the decade they were the closest to being king would be the 1910s with cars like the Type 53.

My wife’s Cadillac was a PoS. They have nice features, but they’re just engineered poorly. Nice technology. Cheap as all hell hardware running it. Garbage vehicles.

I’ve heard mixed reviews and I was kind of like oh shite when I met my now wife and she was driving an ATS, but we’ve had pretty good luck with Cadillac. Other than the Cue shitting out on us, it was reliable day to day.

We got an XT5 about a year ago and I like it. I negotiated a full warranty that carries us to like 84,000 miles or something, so we’ll see how it’s going when we get to that in a few years.

My mother has the Lincoln MK-whatever-is-comparable-to-an-XT5, and I like the Cadillac more... But that Aviator looks nice.

I was scared as shite about trying to get rid of the ATS, but black people love a second hand Cadillac.

They really did. When they came out with the V coupe you could go spend a day flogging them around a track for free.

My wife's cousin had a CTS-V Coupe with a stick...holy crap, that was an awesome car. It was totaled by some guy who ran a red light, and it was nearly impossible to find one to replace it.

ATS V
CTS V

ATS V has an incredible chassis. CTS V is one fast sedan. Cadillac has come a long way and I'm guilty of being a BMW fanboy. But I have to give Cadillac credit...... they perform and the numbers don't lie.

Impressive how those cars held up.

They had a group of 'em that they took from track to track for people to drive. The guy told me they went through tires and brake pads, but that was about it.

Cadillac has never in their history attempted to be on the level of a RR, Maybach, Bentley.

That's simply not true. In the early 1900's Cadillac won the Dewar Trophy twice which was kind of the bench mark for prestigious brands back then.

Also the companies are all completely different b/c. Brands like RR early on only built the Engines and frames and relied on Coach builders for finish the cars. Early history oft these cars all aimed to be the premier luxury car.. But time goes on and business models change..

Rolls and Maybach should never be compared to a mass-market luxury brand like Cadillac.
Mid-20th century (20's to early 50's) they were certainly on a par with any luxury car.

The only time Cadillac was on a true luxury level was the 50s and 60s.

Afterward they were just a nicer version of a Buick or Olds. Looked the same and mostly drove the same. Had a few more options and cheap woodgrain inserts

I had one of those as a teen. Fit ten broads in it one night.

Sky blue with white leather interior.

375hp 472 Caddy in it. 10-12 mpg on the highway.
