Pensacola is the least desirable beach from Mississippi all the way to Port St Joe. Not even anything wrong with it, just all the others are better

Pensacola Bay is the deepest natural port in the gulf

Yep...I was on a carrier there in the 70s.

The last three times I went to Destin, the water was full of seaweed, or jellyfish, or red tide. And the fishing sucked from the beach all three trips. Whenever I vacation on the Atlantic, have dealt with none of that. And the fishing never sucked. The sand isn't as white, and the water not as clear, this is true. But the waves are bigger and more fun for kids to play in.

Red tide can for sure ruin a beach vacation .. sorry you experienced it, but it has traditionally only occurred a couple of weeks per year.. lately though, it’s gotten worse, and longer in duration, depending on which beach location you are in …. Seaweed is a worldwide problem .. the nasty sargassum seaweed has been washing up for the last few years at beautiful Mexican resorts south of Cancun, as well as on many Caribbean islands .. im not sure of the current state, but 4 or 5 yrs ago it was awful, and made many people scratch many formerly beautiful island destinations off their list .. it is that bad .

As far as ‘waves’- i am not a surfer, and i dont have young kids- so i will take the cleaner, clearer, and calmer water of the Gulf beaches over the Atlantic every single time .
