No. I'm confused at you laughing at people suggesting that public can be just as good as private then in the next sentence say that your public school was better than most private schools

yeah. they are. I graduated from one 2 years ago.

most private schools are bad and most public schools are bad.
private schools have a much higher ceiling

You said you went to Alamo Heights. The minority enrollment there is 45%...
Posted on 7/10/17 at 9:57 am to PrimeTime Money
Frisco is 53% minority and was touted earlier in this thread as a great school.
what is your point?

There are good public schools in LA (Zachary, Central etc) but you pay for using them with traffic. My wife refuses to have an hour commute to work so we pay for private and live about 3 miles from our offices

Let's just figure this out with 1 kid.
70130 Zip Code
Average State Income Tax per year @ 70k: 1957
From Google:
The median home value in New Orleans is $170,700. New Orleans home values have gone up 1.2% over the past year. The median price of homes currently listed in New Orleans is $293,000. The median rent price in New Orleans is $1,650, which is higher than the New Orleans Metro median of $1,460
Using listed price (because we know 170k included shanty arse homes) of 293k your property taxes are: 2168
LINK
So total taxes if everything stay the same is 2168+1957 = 4125 per year.
So over 12 years: Total tax cost is 49500. Obviously this number may be lower or higher in a real market with non static tendencies.
Brother Martin is 8-12 so thats 50K there.
Let's choose Calvary for PK-7: Tuition is 5900 per year.
LINK
So 7*5900 = 41300
So Total La is roughly 41300 + 50000 + 49500 = 140800.
Texas is straight forward. Using same median listed price taxes were 8k. 8k * 12 is 96k.
Again in 12 years, you still come out ahead in Texas.

You are either trolling or an idiot...

You're talking to a 20 year old kid...I'm betting he's just an idiot, as are most 20 year olds.

I'm sure it may be, but, why don't you move out of your 6% minority district and live there?
you would sure save a lot of money....

You're picking high cost options to try to make your point. Laughably high by at least $1500, and you're ignoring all the time that you're not paying tuition leading up to PK and the time after.
They are much closer to being a wash.
The bottom line is, as I said originally, your schooling isn't free.
Again, just admit it, or don't. I don't care.

Already been said, but it bears repeating.
If you don't like it, GTFO, or when the complaint is schools, roads, politics etc....do something about it!
People constantly bitching about Louisiana are as useless as the government moochers. The only difference is, the complainers COULD do something about the complaints. They just don't.

Public schools are very good here. There's no reason to send kids to private.
There are places like this in Louisiana too. I grew up in St. Charles Parish...there's a reason there are no private schools in St. Charles Parish.
It's false that you have to send your kids to private school in the south...but I'll agree it's not as easy to find good public schools as it is elsewhere.

They don't have enough money to payoff the politicians, and the bureaucrats to get things done right.
