The Contemporary is under a huge remodel currently. Not sure when it will be over. Check before booking.
I think it’s mostly the Bay Tower that is under construction. We had dinner at California Grill last week and I didn’t see any construction in the main tower.

The Wilderness Lodge ?
There were building the resort the last time i went to WDW.
I always got this resort confused with the campground where The Hoop- Dee doo Revue is located.

We have been to Orlando numerous times staying at the same place and plan to do it again when we do our once in a lifetime trip to Disney and Universal. We stay at the Lakeshore Reserve that is part of the JW Marriott and Ritz. We get a nice two bedroom condo (they have three bedrooms as well). There is a lazy river pool at the Lakeshore and daily and nightly activities for kids. You can get access to JW's big lazy river and new waterslides, as well as access to Ritz's pool and kids club.
It is a 15 minute uber ride to Disney. Disney wanted to charge us about $13,000 for hotels during our trip and we are staying at Lakeshore for $2,000. I will say that it is a timeshare but they don't ask you to go to a meeting or anything. You can either book through Marriott or through Red Week.

I used to. Now I rent entire houses not far outside the park for $150ish a night. Each kid gets a room. We have our own pool. It's great. Then with driving i can be at animal kingdom in under 5 minutes. Ticket and transport center in 15.
I hate the bits service so no issues driving but can also Uber.
. Paid $488/ night at Beach Club and realized the house was more enjoyable. If youup your budget to $250-300 you can get houses with really cool therming.

Lyft is significantly cheaper than Uber at Disney.

I always stayed offsite.. And to aviod parking fees i would drive to the Polynesian and tell security I wanted to go get a Dole- wip from inside.
I then would park and ride the monorail for free all day. Im sure they have cracked down on all this
To be clear, you would go to disney by yourself?

For those who want a cheap deluxe book Coronado Springs. All the amenities of a deluxe but often not much more than an All Star. Downside is the bus gets packed.
Better to drive and if you're driving better to stay off property.

I know i sound like a curmudgeon but I dont understand why people spend so much money in 2026 to go to Disney, knowing all we know about that company, when there are so many other awesome ways to spend 10k or more on a family vacation. Even just within the state of Florida, let alone out west.

and there's like 4 stops....
CS is nice and the pool area is one of the best, but it's way too big...

I oven use Lyft. But Uber is the verb I use.
I open but apps and pick who is cheapest and quickest. But never the Minnie vans they are super expensive.

Right. But its not even just about politics. The experience they give you for the amount you pay is laughable.

Port Orleans is 288 a night.
They made zero effort on making it authentic. No one asking where you got your shoes, doesn't smell like skunk weed everywhere, no shady T-shirt shops. It's all safe and clean.

I could imagine how much the place has evolved since 1980. Every year, our High School band was invited to perform there. Back then, we spent 1 or 2 days doing the rides. The remaining time our priorities were finding secluded areas around the beach to smoke weed and hangout.

Rent DVC points. There are many websites you can get this done. You can stay at a deluxe level resort for moderate level resort price.
This is the answer. And I rent points out and can give availability and pricing. Not trying to rent through here but can give you an accurate comparison.

Kids.
Now if you do Disney without kids? I don’t have an answer there at all. My wife and I actually enjoyed the trip a lot more than we thought we would, but also said multiple times that there was no way we’d do it without kids.
