Here's a classic clip. Don't mess with Terry Gordy's van.

They were hated for “blinding” the Junk Yard Dog with the hair cream in the Superdome.

This worked into a dog collar match. JYD acted like he was blind until they got the dog collar on PS Hayes.

I was about 10 years old when this happened and it was funny as shite.

Watching some of their clips, they look like out of shape rednecks who couldn't have hacked it today.

Terry Gordy was a damn good guy and a man good at his profession.

A lot of people miss him.

Gordy could legit beat the shite out of almost any other wrestler. Back then or even today. You knew he was a badass.

He actually was a badass.

You had to be the redneck though. He was a really nice guy.

They were as a whole the perfect combination,

Michael gave incredible interviews and made you love him or hate him. No in between.

Terry "Bam Bam" Gordy was there to wrestle. That was his role and he excelled at it.

Buddy was there to be the lackey. If the Freebirds lost 90% of the time he got pinned.

What was most important was these guys could carry a match 10, 15, 30 minutes unlike today when matches last 3 minutes. Matches use to last through commercial breaks.

If you didn’t see them live vs the Von Erichs then I don’t know what to say. They were awesome and lived the gimmick

My cousin was a Freebird(Terry Gordy). I still pulled for the Junkyard Dog and Tommy Wildfire Rich, though.

7 year old me hit your cousin when he was walking to the ring. He turned and looked at me and I thought he was gonna kill me

He was about 15 years older than me and already on the road wrestling when I was a kid, so I didn't know him that well.

But my other family members have always told me that he was a really good guy. He always kept his roots in Chattanooga.

Little fat kid asks JYD to sign his pic. JYD promissed little fat kid if he wins the match, that his pic would be the first he'd sign. Little fat kid is cheering JYD to win like his life depended on it. JYD wins gets out of the ring opposite side of little fat kid... fat kid is broken and fighting the mob to get to the other side... meanwhile JYD is doing the same thing seeking out little fat kid and sure enough JYD finds me signs my pic first just like he said. I was on top of the world. Autographed pic is still in my bed room in Vernon Parish. Rapides Parish Coliseum was rockin back in the day saw all the greats there!

used to work out in a gym with a couple of them(lot of attrition in that family due to suicide,) there were a couple of other wrasslers and some of their cronies that would work out together, time to leave when those 'roid heads entered the gym, loud, obnoxious, always seemed to be taunting someone to fight, a couple of them were dating the girls that worked there, girls constantly showing up to work with bruised faces, fun times, was blatantly obvious that the owners were using the gym to run drugs
