Mandatory Evac order just went out for Merryville. That wind with those showers didn't help matters.

There has definitely been some rainfall in that general area. Current temps and radar back that up. Looks like the uptick in wind, though, offset any gain with it. Winds would have been out of the SSE with the boundary off of those thunderstorms/showers.

That has to be rain over Merryville. Echo tops are way too high for that to be fire, at least compared to everything we've seen so far.

If that is fire....

Raining over downtown now. I hope that helps them

I edited and added a radar screen shot. If that isn't rain in Merryville they have big, big problems.

Watching that whole process on radar has been a learning experience.

In the evacuation order the sheriff’s office says the fire could reach town within a couple hours. Do you think that was enough rain to soak the town and save it?

I don't really know. The initial winds before that shower is what pushed it toward town. I think that is fresh territory that hasn't burned, as most of the action has been just SE of there. The rain can't hurt, but it will be a wait and see thing to know if that wind was enough to counteract any benefit.

Watch that spot between Merryville and Neale and see if it moves or stays in the same general spot. That could be where it was pushed.

If that's the case and the wind shifts back out of the NNE after these showers pass, that is why they issued the mandatory order. The wind will be pushing it into town. That area will burn because it was the point where the rain popped up. It probably didn't get much at all.

Hard to tell right now. There are lingering showers kind of popping up here and there.

Fire behind the Hixson property on 171- supposed to be under control

Rosepine fire getting big, I'm seeing it from 20 miles away.

Nope. My sister just left Merryville again. She said the rain was nothing at all. Really quick shower. Ragley got a lot of rain and even some hail.
