Well the OT isn't just people who live in BR.

And honestly, I had no idea ADULTS engaged in such petty territorial pissing matches until I started reading the OT. I don't think it is an accurate representation of real life. It's just a corner of the internet that attracts cynics.

Explain?

I don't know much about the woodlands other than what I've read here.

I'm just not a huge fan of suburbs, regardless of city. If I worked in downtown Houston - and thus made enough money to buy 4000 square feet in the Woodlands - I would buy something smaller near downtown. There are plenty of good neighborhoods inside the loop. The whole place feels artificial to me, and I hate the idea of an hour commute. So all that would go out the window if I worked at Anadarko or Exxon.

You are absolutely retarded. He said it was Louisiana's most analogous city to the Woodlands. And it is. He didn't say it WAS the woodlands.
You must not be able to comprehend very well douchebag. I simply said I'm not sure how the Woodlands is comparable to Mandeville in any other way other than the reason he stated. If there are other things that are comparable other than the fact that there are lots of whites and a major company headquartered there like the original guy I responded to said, please feel free to list them out.

Fwiw: the woodlands is shite and I would never live there.

This shows the intelligence level we're working with here

Great schools, great neighborhoods, high median household incomes, intelligent population with a low crime rate. Great place for your child to grow up safe and get a good education. What a shithole. Some of you people are so fricking stupid.

No, it's not.

I guess Roux House is the only non-chain restaurant in town? There couldn't possibly be other non-chain places on the same block, could there?

Yea man, everything to the south and east is just completely run down. So much misery.

i mean

Detroit has pockets of nice things i'm pretty sure. plus areas like St George are outside the city, so technically they're "suburbs"

i don't hate on BR, but people who defend BR tend to like to ignore how fricking ghetto a very large % of the city is

No bc Baton Rouge will never let the goose
that lays the Golden egg leave the city. It will always turn into a race issue.

believe it or not, some people do not enjoy long commutes (if they work in Houston) and artificial neighborhoods

Yea, it's amazing that I always have something going on each weekend. And can't find time to do a lot of things I want to do.

These people make it sound like everyone in BR is just wallowing away in a state of hopeless despair.

There are other places to do this in Houston that aren't 45 minutes from downtown

Delusion, you have it. A city with such a large population that has such a small number of local quality dinning establishments is just pathetic. That is BR.

Roux House is a bar downtown BR. Hell, BR downtown is quite disappointing.

Where did I say everyone has to? You really like to twist around comments. That's great if you don't like an hour commute. There are PLENTY of jobs in the Woodlands and in Spring. If you don't like the commute then don't move out there and work in Houston. That doesn't even come close to making the city "shite" as the other poster said.

Have you never been there?

Houston is the largest city in Texas; New Orleans is the largest city in Louisiana. The Woodlands is a white-flight suburb about 30 miles from the city; Mandeville is a white-flight suburb about 30 miles from the city. Both have the same same style of new home construction (read: the same architecture found everywhere in the South since the 90s). Both have enough retail to keep the stay-at-home wives busy. Both have good schools. Both have median incomes much higher than their surrounding areas.

I simply said I'm not sure how the Woodlands is comparable to Mandeville

Jesus. He didn't say THE WOODLANDS IS MANDEVILLE. He said IF ANY city in Louisiana was similar to the Woodlands, it would be Mandeville. NO ONE DENIES THAT YOUR PRECIOUS SUBURB IS THE BESTEST.

Where exactly did I say that there aren't? The comparison we are talking about is the Woodlands.

Just because there are other places that are nice in the Houston area, doesn't mean the Woodlands is "shite".

Again, I don't know anyone who bashes those cities.

Either you are being dishonest with yourself or you don't talk to many people. The OT is a small example but I'm talking about real people.

And you're acting like those cities have awesome inner-city school systems. Maybe their suburbs do, but so do the BR suburbs.

Do you honestly believe this? I'm not trying to be an arse but this is a serious question. Do you have any first hand knowledge of other city's school systems?

Its a fact. Lets compare it to a city an hour away. Yup, BR has 1% of the options that NOLA does. Be it dinning or access to fishing. BR does not have much to offer on a wide scale.
