because people know what they need to do now to start down the path to a healthier lifestyle but they have chosen not to do it. They choose the quick fix, not the long, hard road to achieve it; which is why it’s easier to fall back to where they were to start when they stop taking it.
I have serious doubts this will work long term with the majority who just want an easy quick fix.

knowing a lot about laws is trashy too, unless you're in law/law enforcement or a business owner

I wish people would do it naturally but if it’s is relatively “safe” - and I have my doubts - I’m good with anything that helps people get lean and healthy.

long term effects were awful
The long term effects of morbid obesity are fatal.

I think the future pricing will be extremely low with generics.
It's already a generic. It's the delivery system and specific dose that the FDA allowed Brand Name status.
If you're eligible for a Medicare Part D prescription plan in 2026 the co-pay for Ozempic and Mounjaro is 11.00 after the plan deductible and the 11.00 co-pay is paid January-July then drops to 0.00 for the rest of the year. If you take another brand name drug that meets your deductible then the Ozempic and Mounjaro are pretty much free.

Probably will just make it much worse in the long run

The fact that people think these drugs are “new” and “unproven” and “dangerous long term,” is simply ignorance. As you noted, these medications have been widely prescribed for diabetes for several decades now. Their application for weight loss is a net boon for society as a whole. I’m sure there were many like the dwarf who railed against the polio vaccine back in the 50s.

Yes, giving people who don’t produce insulin is the same exact thing as giving it to gen pop
In fact, speaking of insulin, it can be used to increase muscle mass and muscle mass leads to lower all cause mortality. We should prescribe that to gen pop too

No, because in certain demographic groups, morbid obesity is considered attractive and desirable.

Seems like ozempic and these shots have killed the bariatric stomach stapling surgery business. I heard that from an anesthesiologist.

A person on these meds feel fuller sooner, so they eat less. They lose the weight over time and a the habit of overeating is squashed. Lose the weight, come off the drug and retain the eating habit. Or, take a maintenance dosage. Either way, it's a win for that person and our society at large. Imagine the vast amount of money being spent to treat conditions caused by obesity.

If our federal government wanted to really cut the cost of healthcare, they would put GLP-1 in the drinking water! The amount of money treating conditions caused by obesity is staggering!
Posted on 11/14/25 at 8:36 pm to lsu777
Bruh, if fat people can take a drug to not be fat...how can we have fun judging them for being fat?
See, we need to be careful with these GLP-1s.
