I remember when dudes slapping other dudes was a bitch move.

They only nominate movies that 85% of the country has never heard of but they'll have fake fights in the middle of the show for ratings?
This fricking site is infested with wannabe Fox Mulders who think they’ve cracked the code on a wide-ranging global conspiracy that includes faked Oscar bitch slap fights to bolster sagging ratings.

Im on the fence. The slap looked fake as frick but the reaction after doesn't seem like something the Oscars would be behind
ETA: And apparently Chris Rock and Will Smith have had bad blood between them for a while.

What exactly would be the reason for staging this?

Can we agree after roasting everyone in 2020 and saying he wouldn't be invited back, Ricky Gervais needs to host next year, come out on stage escorted by security and say "Well, I was wrong."

Them being actors is why this came out so fake. Unlike movies, you can’t take a full slap and not react at all. But apparently I guess most people have never been actually hit to realize that

So, an actor crying and being consoled by two other actors sold it for you?
Will and Chris apparently openly hate one another. Do you think they’d agree to collaborate on this?

What I find funny is that the people who won't believe a single word that 90% of the media tells them will buy in completely to something portrayed by literal Hollywood actors.

A 16 page thread in an hour on a board that actively hates actors and absolutely wasn’t watching the Oscars at all proves this was an excellent “joke” …

They waited until the show was 3/4ths over to pull the stunt?

It was a weak-arse open-handed slap. Stop acting like it was a right hook thrown by in his prime Tyson.

Are you trying to say that this fight was being portrayed as real by actors and wasn’t?
Posted on 3/27/22 at 10:48 pm to AUCE05
Made a joke about Jada’s bald head. She has an autoimmune disease so she can’t grow hair.

There’s a million different routes they could’ve went to drum up ratings that didn’t involve two black A-list celebrities slapping and cussing on live tv. Like Rock & Smith give 2 F’s about ratings anyway.
Like others have mentioned earlier, Rock would’ve had a much better comeback to Smith cussing him out if this was staged.

Just watched it on Twitter. I can't believe you thought that was real and deserved a thread.
I yet to hear on rational explanation of why it was "staged"
BTW this goes back a ways when Chris Rock made his first joke about Jada Smith
quote:
Back to 2005, to be exact, the one and only time Chris Rock hosted the Oscars. His jokes were funny, far funnier than any oscars since, but they were brutal as well, and he was never asked back. One of those jokes that he told at the time was about Jada Pinkett-Smith who said she was boycotting the ceremony due to the lack of diversity among the nominees. This was a decade before #OscarsSoWhite, and Hollywood did not take the complaints seriously. Rock took the issue seriously, but made of of Pinkett-Smith’s announcement saying “Jada boycotting the Oscars is like me boycotting Rihanna's panties. I wasn't invited.”
