I love everyone linking the “uncensored” version and claiming that as proof of the realism.

Yes it really happened. Smith really did slap Rock and then used the F-word on national TV.

Posting the unedited version doesn’t make it any less staged

Again, if it was staged why did they do something that made virtually all audiences miss nearly the entire exchange?

To most viewers, there was a slap followed by 10+ seconds of thinking there was something wrong with their TV or their feed.

Just remember that leading up to the Oscars the entire narrative was that it's outdated, no one cares, ratings were worst ever in history, etc.

Then this.

Also, it was painfully obvious that it was likely staged, but Smith didn't know when or what the joke would be. So he's even laughing at the joke, until Jada rolls her eyes and nudges him to perform. Then he immediately goes into acting mode and "storms" the stage. Will Smith started out as a comedic actor, this was a performance. Let's not even mention the fact that Smith knows how to throw a punch and threw a baby bitch slap that a kid would do.

Again, to make it seem real. I can't believe everyone's "this is real" argument always references shite they can do and fake.

Two comedic actors got the Oscars talked about more than they have in the last 20 years, that's all this was.

If real, Rock should win an award for how well he held it together.

And now the narrative is focused on Will Smith's career and whether or not it's over. No one is talking about the Oscars this morning. CODA was the big winner last night and no one is even talking about it winning Best Picture. They're talking about Will Smith smacking the shite out of Chris Rock. I didn't tune in after the slap. I simply watched it on social media, commented on how wild it was, and then continued to do what I was doing. I imagine many people had the same reaction.

Everyone thinking it was staged gives proof:

Chris Rock leaning forward with his hands behind his back and sticking his chin out while a man who you just told a joke about his wife “angrily approaches” him

The slow motion videos of Will Smith fingers making contact with Rock’s face (not fist, not palm). And Will Smith’s smirk as he turned back around after the slap.

Will Smith leaning back away from Rock as he throws the punch/slap (just as they do in fight scenes while acting)

Chris Rock never losing a stop of balance, or stepping back in the entire saga

Meanwhile, those saying its definitely real only throw out:

But Will Smith cursed, he looked really angry

I think there is some debate here but nothing about it being staged or not is “painfully obvious”

Because virtually all audiences went to social media and saw the entire exchange 10 seconds later…

These Hollywood people are all emotional children, he thought it was funny until he looked over and saw his wife was upset. These morons are being given entirely too much credit to organize and pull off something like this

I’m still waiting on everyone saying it’s staged to offer a reasonable response as to why he would upstage himself while nominated (then winning) for the biggest award of his life to trend on Twitter for a few days. Now nobody cares about his biggest life’s achievement. Or why Rock would sign off on being punked in front of the entire globe to go viral for a few days as well. These aren’t unheard of celebrities that in need to get their names out to the world.

Smith looks like a idiot. Everyone knows the presenter doesn’t write the jokes. Someone else writes them then the academy approves them.

Smith slapping Rock is like slapping your server for bringing out an undercooked steak.

Then Smith goes on to profusely thank the academy and say he hopes he is invited back. They approved the jokes

Rehearsed and fake.

Pop culture is a tool for dumbing down of the masses.

Kanye did way less (difference is Taylor was accepting an award) and got crucified over this.

The two options are Will Smith is a total pussy and had to slap another man like a bitch risking his career and first Oscar win ever over a shitty, hack joke, or it was staged for ratings since the Oscars have had the lowest ratings in history recently.

Also about this. Two of the biggest, most famous black men entertainers have acted out very publicly in the past week. Kanye West just got kicked off the Grammys for threatening tweets and Will Smith just assaulted Chris Rock on live television during the Oscars.

I saw the full version in a clip showing Will Smith laughing and then he turned and saw his wife was rolling her eyes pissed then he went on the stage. I guess Jada has a hair loss problem

It was staged for ratings.

The irony that Will Smith wouldn’t use curse words during his rap career- then drops angry F bombs on live TV years down the road.

It wasn’t staged

Will & Jada are some weird people and have a weird arse family. This is something so off the wall that Will would do. Will dropping those F bombs when he sat back down were 100% real.

I’m guessing y’all think during the commercial break with Will wiping his tears and everyone coming up to him was fake too?

Not everything has to be fake…
