For the “it’s fake” crowd, what is Will Smith’s motivation for being involved in a gimmick?

this. he's had a very tough couple of years. he went into a billionaire narcissist x cuck rage.

i'm not saying it's definitely real, but anyone saying it's definitely fake is an idiot.

Yes. I don’t think it was fake.

That slap. fricked over 3 black men. Quest love got the Oscar that Rock handed out. I even read some reporter tweet that the statue broke or cracked as Rock stumbled. Don’t know how true?

Sidney Poitier. He’s dead but they had the memorial piece right after that began with a long bit about him.

Chris Rock himself. Slapped and left stammering.

Smith talking about love and struggle. Chris Rock is older than you are by about 5 years. He’s had the same struggles. You slapped him. Like a bitch OR like a “boy”! Which do you prefer?

And Chris Rock said nothing. Because he’s hosted the Oscar’s a couple times and gets what it means and who is hurt by a shitshow. Trained professional comedian, he could have scorched Earth Will and Jada with all of the material they publicly disclose. Add to that his comedic chops and heckler material you know a comic has cued up. He could have done a 5 minute monologue until “security” finally strolled up.

I hope comedians torch Will Smith and the Oscars. For the next few months. I hope the Oscars are left scrambling to find a host again. Comedians say “frick that” after they left a two time host (I think) and legend to younger comics twisting.

He was set to get his Oscar; he has more money than he could spend in 10 lifetimes and did not need to get his name out in public any more than it was.

I’ve only seen the clip one time, so I don’t know if it looks fake or not; I don’t see the motivation for Smith.

There's no motivation for Chris Rock either.

He's going to be forever known as the guy who got b*tch slapped by a lunatic in front of millions of ppl.

I’m sorry that you don’t know how ratings work and you’re making it everyone else’s problem.

It was an open-hand slap! Not a punch!

Probably what it sounds like when you hit someone with a microphone on them

That's not how it works guy. If you clap into a microphone you will here a clap. It isn't a sound changing device.

I just watched the clip. If it was staged, Chris Rock would have had some jokes to add to it, but he was speechless for once. All he could come up with was "wow. This is the best night of television ever." Weird that of all the off color jokes at these things, the one about her ugly haircut is what gets this reaction.

I think if I'm going to do that, I'm knocking someone out by punching him.... not by an open-handed slap! shite is fake! If Will Smith wanted to hurt Chris Rock, he would have punched him, not slap him

Does the 'it's fake' crowd also think the LAPD are in on this joke?

Goddamn, the smug self-satisfaction of this and all the other conspiracy theories peddled on this board and site and general.

#1 do you think Hollywood has ever planned and staged events and controversy in the past for influence and ratings?

If your answer is yes than why is calling it out as obvious and part of their (known) playbook considered smug and conspiracy kooky?

If you answer no then we can just move on. Hollywood does this type shite all the time.

Why wait until that moment to pull a publicity stunt?

Again, the timing doesn't matter. NO ONE IS TALKING ABOUT WILL SMITH's SHITTY OSCAR WIN for a shite film and performance, or the Oscars at all. The entire narrative leading up to the show was that it's no longer relevant and ratings have been horrible.

Now literally every media outlet and internet forum is talking about it nonstop.

It's not some batshit kooky conspiracy theory to think that two comedians got together and pulled a stunt to get the industry in the headlines.

The fact that you dismiss it outright is laughable and proves how easy Hollywood has it to fool people. It wasn't even a good performance.

It's also telling that anyone claiming it's 100% real all point out things that are easily manipulated to further the illusions (and acting) Smith being mad, cursing, the timing, curing commericial break, tears, an LAPD tweet?

Okay.

Or, you know...he's acting.

Actors acting. Who would have thought?

They are “investigating” and no one has filed charges. Sounds like they’re not in on anything.
