I guess we just have accepted corporate welfare as necessary
You're right. Better to not have all those jobs here. Nor all the chips so many of our industries use. Better to stay dependent on foreign manufacturing.
Even considering all the ancillary support industries for these plants. Totally not worth it.

Lololol at all the hypocrites who complain about not being able to compete with China because they subsidize their industries.
The CHIPS act grants are one time payouts for plants that will be making chips for decades. It lessens our dependence on foreign made chips, which was one of the main bottlenecks during the pandemic.
The shortsightedness of many here is fully expected.

Then why not nationalize industry? You dont even need demand, just keep creating jobs. Make all of us government employees!
These corporations living off welfare will split the minute subsidies end.

So they also announced this under Trump but now Biden gets credit for them building a second plant?
Yes. That's how it works.

Because Im not going to argue with someone who knows jack about all we've had to done to ensure chips are built here, TSMC, ASML, NVIDIA and AMD will build chips here because we've made that possible, stuff we weren't doing 2016-2020.
Clearly you have no idea since TSMC produces Nvidia and AMD's most advanced chips since they don't have their own foundry.

Not really. The plan was paused until Trump won.

Apparently you're one of the poli board retard idiot scum that escaped the reservation.
Go ahead, hate on your countries success some more. Rage on, loser
If this has happened while Trump was in office you'd be over the moon and raging against anyone who questioned it. Sad!

whats the verdict on if Trump is going to keep this going or not? is Phoenix still going to be a booming chip manufacturing city in the future?
Posted on 12/15/24 at 1:16 pm to Sayre
Yeah, I'm over the target judging by your response.
btw-Your Trump comment is so far off base it's hilarious.
There are other ways to induce companies that want access to their largest market than giving them billions of dollars.

Quality of life.
infrastructure.
Excellent public education.
Room to develop.
Not California.

You wouldn't know the target if it hit you in the face.
That's just how little I respect poli board posters.
What you know about the semiconductor industry couldn't fit on the head of a pin.
You'd rather all that industry stay offshore and make us susceptible to any whim.
You hate the US and American workers and consumers. I get that

The subsidies fall under the Chips Act, which was passed in 2022
Not sure if Arizona was part of Chips Act or an extension of existing push under Trump, but much of the spending in 2022 Chips Act went towards typical Dem projects

This is still going as well thanks to the CHIPS act. Too bad Trump wants to do away with it.
Obviously you either haven’t read or completely support all the DEI and environmental spending aspects of this law.

Keep raging smoothbrain. I'm the exact opposite of what you claim.
What I do hate is people that live off government largess. Both personal and corporate.

Protectionism hurts consumers, subsidies to massive corporations crush small business.
This is backwards.
