re: Would the world be better off if women stayed home

The overwhelming majority of human history has seen the women being primarily homemakers. Are there some exceptions to this rule? Of course. But that doesn’t change the fact that for the vast majority of civilizations around the world, the woman being primarily a homemaker has been the norm. Sorry if that runs counter to your Masters in Modern Feminism Studies.

The term homemaker doesn’t mean they never leave the house. Mine works a part time job a couple days a week but the rest of her time is spent running errands and taking care of young kids. It’s not like she’s on a leash that runs between the oven and laundry room.

Isn't that kind of sexist cocky?
You don't think that some women don't put it out there?

Do you have a link to the peer-reviewed science on that? No, you don't, because it's a myth perpetuated recently.
I'm not going to get into it in depth, because I know you don't want to try to follow along. But, I'm talking about human HISTORY, not the past few hundred, or even couple thousand years.

The big difference is that technological and economic innovations in the 20th century greatly reduced the amount of time needed to be spent on regular household chores like preparing the meal, making/repairing clothes, washing clothes, keeping a clean house, educating children, etc. By the mid 50’s, it no longer took a full day’s work to do all of that stuff, meaning women could feasibly work a job that pays income while still getting all of those homemaking duties done.
In this day and age, it simply isn’t necessary for a woman to stay at home once children are school age. There’s straight up not that much there for them to do productively.

Well, if we are going to bring historical perspective into this conversation, we must realize that the role of the "homemaker" has been greatly reduced in modern times due to technology.
The need for a full time "homemaker" dwindles by the day.

Yet the older population of this board still thinks women shouldn’t leave the kitchen.

My wife stays at home, and it’s a way better. She taught school for many years, but we didn’t miss the income like I thought we would.

Your Feminist Studies professor did a very complete job at your political indoctrination I see.

I’m not saying he’s right, but god you are still terrible at having discussions.

Well I definitely think women should be allowed to vote,
I also believe that women should be allowed to vote but, at the same time, I believe the country would be better if they couldn’t.

I mean the guys whole MO on this board revolves around objectifying women. The chances he is both single & out of touch are relatively high.

teague is right, of course, that women did play a much larger role in societies in earlier times, but that is mostly due to need
It took a lot of hands to feed and establish a community back then
But with better technology, the less hands were needed, and societal roles were established
and through lots of evolutionary experimenting, it was established that women were better care providers and men were better at the manual duties

I could think of several other groups that shouldn’t be able to vote before thinking of women.

if we are going to limit voters, let's start with IQ first

Not really. To bed is another place for them.
