It's really scary that someone is defending the ramseys so hard. Makes you wonder about his deep desires.

I think the $118,000 ransom is critical. That means that whoever killed her knew that John Ramsey earned a bonus that year worth $118,000.

Exactly but what dumbass only wants $118k from Millionaires lol

OJ case was not long before this so people knew about DNA.

The landscaper guy for the Ramseys said on the show last night that Patsy Ramsey talked to him about the OJ case when the verdict came in and was upset about it, saying something to the effect of "Can you believe it? You can get away with murder in this country!" So she was likely familiar with DNA.

If this were any other poster, I'd laugh. But, pimp is a really bright guy and seems like one of the more well-respected posters on TD otherwise. I haven't really followed the case much, but it's weird to see pimp get piled on by almost everyone else for being in some state of denial over the case.

Well, that's because in this specific case he's being quite contrarian.

I'm someone who generally gives the accused the benefit of the doubt. I thought the right verdicts were reached with Casey Anthony, George Zimmerman, and even O.J. So I'm not someone who just automatically thinks the person accused is guilty. (Although I think both Casey Anthony and O.J. were responsible for the deaths, I don't think there was enough to find them guilty).

But in this case, it's just too much of a stretch to believe it was anyone besides the 3 family members in the house. I don't think you can prove it in the court of law, but based on what we know, all signs point to the family.

Here's what I don't get...

The "$118,000 ransom actually argues AGAINST the family being guilty"

Think of it like this:

If you ALREADY knew your daughter was dead - which people assume is the premise of why the family wrote this note - to make it seem like an outside party was involved...

if you ALREADY knew that and were trying to fool the police - why would you even ask for a ransom in the first place? You know that your dead daughter is in your house, why go through the farce of asking for a ransom? The letter could have simply been "We have your daughter. Good luck getting her back."

I find it hard to believe a well educated family like the Ramseys would - in the heat of the moment of writing this ransom note - would go "oh gosh you know what, I got a $118,000 bonus this year... I'll make the ransom $118,000 because I can easily pay that off!" Then go to the bank to withdraw that....

If I was staging a kidnapping of my daughter who I already knew was dead because I or someone in my family killed her - I would ask for a ransom of like $1M, or something random like $700,000.

Why incriminate yourself by asking for a sum EXACTLY the same as your bonus? Why even ask for a ransom at ALL?

Clearly he would know "this is going to come out that this is close to what bonus I received this year"

HOWEVER

If I was someone who disliked the Ramseys and had intimate information of them, and was motivated to kidnap their daughter I would think

That bastard JB Ramsey just got a bonus of $118,000 this year, he can totally afford to pay me a ransom of $118,00 for his daughter

I still think the family did it, but I've always interpreted the ransom amount to be exonerating of the family, rather than incriminating.

EDIT: you are correct, the ransom was for $118,000 exactly - $100,000 in $100 bills and the remaining $18,000 in $20 bills. oops.

The note specifically asked for $118,000. It wasn't just close to that amount. That helped raised suspicion on the Ramseys.

An intruder with enough intimate knowledge about John's finances absolutely would have asked for more money because naming that specific bonus amount would narrow him down on the list of suspects.

Good point.
Why go to the trouble to try to frame the parents with yourself being one of the few people who would know such information. ?

Ok, after watching both videotaped entrances, we can all rule out anyone entering or exiting through that basement window

Whereas, both people were able to access the basement thru the window, neither could do it and still leave a cobweb that was clearly seen in crime scene photos and videos

I agree

If the parents did it, why would you write a handwritten note, knowing they can study handwriting to figure out who wrote it, and why would you be dumb enough to pick that number if you knew you just got that much in a bonus.

I don't think they could have been that dumb if they were trying to cover it up.

They're completely panicked. They couldn't just call the cops and say "Our daughter was murdered during the night and we don't know how" because they knew they were guilty. They came up with a kidnapping ruse, and damned if it didn't work. So obviously it wasn't that dumb.

Watching the next episode of the show right now.

Conclusions that they have reached so far:
- They examined slides of swabs from JonBenét's vagina and concluded that it would be a reach to say she was definitively sexually assaulted there.
- Did tests with stun gun on a volunteer and concluded that the marks on JonBenét's skin were not likely caused by a stun gun. Also, they concluded that the use of a stun gun would have created more screaming/noise and wouldn't have subdued her/made her unconscious.
- Opened a brand new pair of panties from the store with gloves on and tested for DNA and found DNA belonging to someone from the manufacturing process.

DNA testing just showed that an unopened pack of childs panties contains unknown DNA from the handling and packaging of the garment

The Boulder DA was absolutely wrong in eliminating the Ramseys based on the finding of Hispanic male DNA on the clothing

This scenario would have all gone down in a 7 hour window. They were probably freaking the frick out and had no time to think of a better idea.

Also, movies and CSI are the only knowledge most regular people in the US have of covering up crimes. I have no idea how I would cover up a murder in my home because I've simple never thought about it. Give me 7 hours in those circumstances and I wouldn't have done any better.

Do not watch that bullshite ABC. It is complete ducking garbage. There is an A&E series that actually looks at the facts and science and it is clear she was killed by unknown assailant of Hispanic origin. (In a Santa Clause suit but that is from different source not in the show)

It is amazing that they are allowed to repeat such bullshite as facts. He should sue their arse.

Ok, what would you have done if you had accidentally , or purposely, killed your 6 year old daughter and wanted to cover it up?
1. Leave her there and claim you were asleep and didn't know.

2. Take the body away and dump it somewhere.

3. Stage it to be some "kidnapping".

Answers :

1. Would implicate parents.
They would have to stage something.

2. Probably worried about nosy neighbors seeing them drive off mysteriously in the middle of the night.

3. Could divert attention away and by hid this worked out for them
