Sounds like they could use some global warming.

Like in other parts of the world, climate change has had a major impact on Yakutsk. The city drew international attention in July 2022 when haze from nearby wildfires tore through forests, blanketing the region in thick smoke.

Scientists expressed grave concerns about the increasing frequency of the fires brought about by climate change in the Siberian arctic.

I feel like I can't read anything or watch a documentary without this shite being in there somewhere.

There's a series of YouTube videos about surviving there in the winter. Absolutely brutal.

Big whoop. It is currently -55 in parts of Canada right now. It's winter. It gets cold.

A sarlacc. Or a diamond mine. Can't tell.

I just went down a streetview rabbit hole and explored the city. What a shitty place to live.

Down a Google earth rabbit hole with this place. Holy shite, talk about isolated!

From what I can tell, the closest “major” city is more than 600 miles away but get this, it’s connected by a dirt road! This place is out there. Railway in and out. These people don’t move out.

There wasn't a fully paved road across the whole of Russia until 2015.

It's almost as big as LaToya's

doesn't quite fit the entire city of New Orleans like LaToya's

The city is shrouded in "ice fog" during winter. That occurs when "air is so cold that hot air from houses, people and cars cannot rise,"

American indians called it "pogonip".
