there have been large companies caught screwing the public at record numbers. What the hell are you talking about?

I guess he didn't recall Texaco screwing the State of LA and most of its royalty owners out of their rightful royalties back in the day.

The government will pursue royalty payments if BP is found at fault in the spill, MMS spokeswoman Carol Fagot said today.

“The Department of the Interior and the Minerals Management Service are currently conducting an investigation into the incident to determine the cause,” Fagot said in an e- mail. “If that investigation determines that the accident was avoidable, or the result of negligence, royalties will be due on the estimated volume of oil and gas lost.”

Compared to their environmental liability... the royalty is roundoff error.

Legal experts told the McClatchy team that a sounder, agreed-upon estimate of the spill's reach would jumpstart costly court cases against the company, attracting droves of new plaintiffs. In other words, the bigger the oil spill, the bigger the damage awards the culpable company will have to cough up.

So are we getting unreliable reports because of Bp, or slimeball plaintiff lawyers? You decide.

LA does not get its fair share FWIW.

I have heard, but cannot confirm, that the State of Texas gets a sweeeeeeeeeet royalties deal that La. does NOT get. Can anyone confirm this????

BTW...the deal that Tx. gets (I've heard) is a deeper invasion into the gulf that is considered within the 'state's property.'

The posters that have migrated over to this board in the last few days are dropping the over all IQ of the board down to rant level.

Very true.

Overall, this board has been a great success though.

Has anyone heard the word BOYCOTT BP!!!! They are not worried about the effects of the spill nor the clean up. Don't buy a bloody gallon of petro. Remember, two by sea! The Revolutionary War part 2 began April 20th and we lost without firing a shot.

This is correct - LA extends 3 miles and I believe TX is around 10 miles.

Hey Flask, I may not have 8037 post like you. I've been reading the rant for a very long time. And, I may have only 1 reply so what. Maybe, I just like to read and not make a complete arse like you. This is my state that I love very much and I am pissed not only from Katrina, but this crapt that my son will have to deal with when I gone. So, why don't you take your Clemson Fan self go climb under the rock you crawled out from under. Ok
