I think they showed every single US ceremony in primetime, too.
I didn’t watch prime time every night, but I saw the aerials team, Shifrin, Breezy Johnson, Jordan Stolz, etc on the podium

You do realize that 7pm PST/EST are programmed like 6pm CST/MST, don't you?

Also it's 4am Milan time on a day that doesn't have much to fill NBC's Primetime/Late Night shows. Hardly a night to use to argue against 16 days of programming.

quote:My question is why wouldn't they always show a loop of a variety of events instead of just long form curling over and over and over. It's not like they would break away for 15 minutes and give a synopsis of the day. They would literally just show the entirety of curling.
I think every single event was shown live on NBC or USA, though the long events like Biathlon and Cross Country Skiing were trimmed down to 30 or 60 minutes.
But of course these were in non-primetime slots.

On NBC Primetime, I don’t know if I saw more than 10 minutes of curling highlights per day. Many days, it wasn’t even mentioned.
They usually showed 4-5 sports per day. Figure skating definitely got more than the other sports, but almost all of the sports got airtime.
In terms of the NBC feed, curling got less than almost all of the sports.

I never saw a single mention of my favorite event - Snowboard Cross - only to find it had completed like a week before I thought to look
I really enjoy the Winter Olympics overall, but Snowboard Cross is my absolute favorite too!!
I made a point to search out its broadcast times in advance, and yeah, it was a pain in the @$$ to make time to catch it live even on the USA Network coverage feed.
I really don’t necessarily have anything against Curling…but I gotta say…I’ve seen enough Curling over the past two weeks to hold me over until AT LEAST the 2038 Olympic Games if I never see another match until then.

NBC, USA and CNBC were all airing events, both live and on replay. A lot of the early morning (USA time) stuff was airing on Peacock live which sucks if you don't know the schedule.
On the cable networks I was able to see some figure skating, bobsled, speed skating (for the wipeouts especially), snowboarding, biathlon, ski jump, luge.
Maybe a couple other events but can echo your hockey and curling coverage. Live or replays, it seemed like curling was always on, and I'm not gonna complain but I think casual viewers want some fast sports, events with high risk or probability of a crash occurring, not somebody pushing a stone.

I understand maybe the primetime broadcasts were better. I was never really in a position to watch those, nor was I going to record and watch later. I just think it's really weird that the later night coverages didn't feature at least SOME rundowns of all that was going on, even in short bursts. It literally was curling. Can somebody explain that broadcast decision to me? Certainly the audience for more broad coverage is bigger than curling.

But that is not what I want either. I want a network-curated presentation of the meat of the action along with relevant human interest stories interspersed + medal ceremonies.
Just watching a long feed of one thing does not accomplish that.

My biggest complaint was them airing stuff on Peacock only when it was like 2/3 AM here. The crossover to air on different networks was a mixed bag of having to constantly look at a schedule. They could've done a lot better with presentation. Like you'd get some prelim competitions in prime time but have no idea when the medal-round events would be.

Everything was available through USAHD during the overnight hours. Channel 242 at our house. We set DVR to record everything overnight from 11pm until 5 or 6am and most other stuff was on there during the day. Pretty certain all events and all heats were shown. Much of it condensed in 1 - 2 hours. Just about all medal ceremonies as well.
