Been in the stand all but about 2 hours from noon-2. It’s been a slow day at our club. 5 people hunting 0 deer have been seen.

I heard quite a few shots off Stuart Rd this morning, but only one so far this afternoon. Been here since Thursday and we’ve only seen 2 deer.

Same

We haven’t gotten the chance to kill with th yet. Shot a hog and two deer with the 80 grain nosler ballistic tips so these should do better as those grenade

ETA: just had a massive spotted boar down the lane but he didn’t stay long enough to get a gun up but those were some Boone and crocket nuts dangling frickers were huge from 150 yds out

Never quite heard them explained that way. That’s good stuff.

A little late but...

St Helena Parish
Was 40° light breeze out of NNE
Littler browl 308/150gr corelokt
Littlest browl 270/130gr corelokt (with my "help")
All of us in box stand on a trail in mixed forest near creek bottom.

Looking for littlest browl's first deer.

Right after sunrise 4 point gets it from the 270 at 100 yards, dropped him right on the spot. We were high-fiving and talking, getting ready to go see the little buck. Figuring the spot is dead for a while. Nope.

Seven point walks out halfway between us and the downed buck. 308 puts one through the lungs, found him 40 yards away in the thicket.

Both deboned and on ice by lunchtime.

Great day today. Lots of preseason work yielded an awesome opening day. One proud dad right here, gents.

Me and Pops didn’t see anything. But we jumped on the 4 wheeler to head back to camp and saw a yearling by a feeder, so we stopped and watched it for about 2 minutes. It casually walked towards the woods and decided to take a hop…when it did, it landed on a rabbit. Rabbit went one way, deer started running in circles. We were laughing our butts off. Made up for not seeing anything today.

Great to hear of all the success and families hunting together. I took the weekend off for some family time. Retirement is great. I can hunt during the week.
