Anyone had this problem or know of one?
Diesel is pouring from the bottom of the filter housing when truck is running.

just order one of these...billet aluminum instead of plastic and it has a drain to remove any water or drain the housing before changing the filter

Has it been changed?
The new filters come with a o-ring that is supposed to be changed when changing filters. I didn’t change mine but that might be it.

Not yet. It’s under warranty so I’ll call in the morning I guess. I don’t want to void anything

Did you try to re torque the filter housing and the water drain screw?

I don’t see a water drain screw. Maybe that’s what came off and diesel draining out from there?

Maybe that’s what that star hole is for?

I just looked at mine and it doesn’t have a screw in that hole

its so you can use a torx wrench instead of rounding off the cheap plastic molded nut on the bottom...just get the billet housing and have it ready for your next fuel filter change

That torx fitting is the water drain it has a different torque setting of something like 18 in pounds.

Video that talks about drain screw.. 1:45 mark

You say it's under warranty and that you don't want to void said warranty. Seems your answer provides itself.

it's at the dealership to fix whatever it is...I just wanted to know if others had this problem and what caused it.

Someone had mentioned they looked at theirs and it wasnt a screw, so only thing that came to mind was another way to remove the housing on the 3.0...good to know it is a drain,...but I still recommend the billet housing...that housing also fits the 3.0

Id guess the o-ring is swollen/bad.

Cannot void warranty. That would be against the law.

What do you mean you can’t void warranty? You can absolutely void a warranty by changing things on a truck.

Dealership has my truck and they said it was on the rack but I didn’t get a call back today.
I also had them check out a buzzing/rattling sound that is sporadic when the truck is idling in park. It sounds like it’s towards the bed of the truck.

The only thing that can void the warranty is if they can prove you tampered with the odometer.

They can only deny warranty coverage on things they can show you directly caused as a result of a modification you performed. Example: you put a 2” level and it wears out your ball joints… they can deny warranty coverage on your ball joints due to the level kit, but if your rear differential craps out, they can’t deny coverage based on that 2” level kit modification because the level kit doesn’t affect the rear diff one way or another.
