Can someone explain the 2011 hype to me? Why are they so damn expensive and what's the appeal? A 1911 with a grip the size of your forearm is all I see
Like Jon said, they are unbelievably smooth and the triggers typically are great. I built one as a covid project. It's just ridiculous at how easy it is to shoot small groups.
The gun itself is heavy. Lots of metal and that weight helps to negate recoil to a level that is very, very controllable.
The grips on them are big. It's a double stack 9mm and they hold 17-21 rounds in them. I have big hands (thumb tip to pinky tip is 10") so I appreciate the big grip.
I did buy a new Staccato C (4" 2011) this weekend and shot it Sat at the range. For a gun its size, It's very accurate and very fast. Put 300 rounds through it without a single hiccup.

1911 trigger with high capacity capability.

The higher end guns like Staccato, Nighthawk, ACW have hand fitted parts and arr very accurate and extremely reliable. Shooting a $2500 Staccato is night and day different than shooting a $500 Glock. Will both get the job done…yes. The Staccato is just better in every metric. My Staccato C is more accurate than my Sig P226 X five German masterworks .
I have shot a Staccato XC and it’s like the slide to frame is on ball bearings it’s so smooth.

Y'all getting these $2000+ 2011s in 45 or 9?

Almost all 2011s are 9mm
Some are .40
The difference for the 2 is in using in competition. .40 is a different power class from the 9mm.
I'm sure there are some in .38 super but won't be many.

Good 2011 that doesn’t break the bank. No MIM and slide and frame are fit.
$1850
Bul Armory
Comp model coming to compete with Staccato XC that will be $1K cheaper

Really like the Bul armory offerings. The CZ Shadow 2 line is sub $1500 and really nice.
Also, the stealth arms platypus is sub 1500, extremely customizable, and uses glock mags. Haven't shot one but have seen positive reviews.
