I love my Glock 20, but the grip is a brick. I have long fingers so it works for me but I can see how it’d be uncomfortable otherwise. I shoot it well and it’s my downstairs home defense gun. Recoil is not bad at all, but granted I buy cheap target ammo which isn’t full load.

I have a Colt Delta Elite (1911) and an Sig p220 SAO.
They’re both very good but they don’t have the capacity of a double stack as they’re both single stack, but that may fit you hands better.

Cons:
Less "stopping power" compared to 9mm

This isn’t accurate. 1st and foremost, pistols don’t really have “stopping” power until you get up to the .44 mag. The ballistics of the 10mm is very close to a .357 mag.

The glock 20 SF is a little easier as well. The standard 20 is really a big bitch.

Finally caved and bought a Dagger. $239 for the ODG version without optics cut just seemed crazy.

That's a damn good buy on the Dagger. I love mine.

I've read where those have difficulty cycling certain types of ammo. Like maybe non-nato ammo. Is that true?

I'm all over this thread this week. Haven't bought anything but ammo and a few accessories this year.

Where do you all typically buy your ammo? I just bought my first handgun and for training at the range have bought ammo from Academy for ~24 cents/round in 50 to 200 round boxes. However, based on this thread, it looks like the better deals are obtained through gun.deals for bulk ammo (and also look for the free shipping). Any other recs? Thanks

I buy reloaded 9mm brass for less than 20 cents a round when Ammunition Depot has free shipping over $149

I just wait until they do that and buy however many it takes to get the price point. I think it's 800 rounds

Academy had some Monarch brass for 20 cents a round a month or so ago. I just wait on those prices for my BS range ammo

Yeah, Academy tends to have solid pricing on range ammo for 9mm, 45ACP, and 5.56. Their 308/7.62 tends to be higher than I like, though, so I usually buy that online.

I appreciate each of your responses. Re: Ammunition Depot, is the ammo you are referring to this? LINK

Academy is going to be your best bet for day to day, in-person ammo buys. Around certain holidays, they even run prices on Monarch you basically can't beat anywhere.

Otherwise, just keep a lookout on reddit for sporadic deals.

Also, if you're going to buy a gun, esepcially handguns, this is the best time of year to do it because the companies all change their yearly models right now. Just like cars, the new models come in and the old ones are discounted to move out for inventory.

I check ammo seek a lot if I'm looking for bulk ammo.

Buyer beware for locked and loaded. They aren’t a stocking dealer. I ordered a PC Shield last year which I thought was a great deal. After 30 days of not receiving the gun I emailed them and they said it wasn’t in stock at the moment. It showed in stock at the time I ordered. I had to wait or cancel. I told them to cancel and they charged my CC $78:cancel fee. frick those guys.

It is indeed. It's nothing to write home about but I've shot several hundred rounds of it without an issues whatsoever

And I just noticed they have the free shipping going right now. It's not always there

Yeah I saw that posted earlier. That's complete shite. I had something similar with RK Guns but waited and eventually got the firearm.

Just picked up these two this afternoon

Benelli Nova 3
Ruger LVT

Threw on a scope from one of my late dad's muzzleloader after dropping in the BX trigger. I'll probably leave the scope for now and figure out what I'm going to buy regarding something more accurate with a bolt 22
