Not only are the old Ruger 44 carbines rare, those that possess them want a lot of coin tonpart with them. And most I’ve seen are in bad confition

The new ones are supposedly pretty good. As long as I could put my hands on it first i wouldnt be scared.

Rossi makes some cruder model 1892 replicas that are decent as well and much cheaper.

Deerstalker was I believe the name Ruger gave the early production 44s. Ithaca filed suit and the name was removed going forward.
What did you pay for it?

I would go lever. Probably Marlin.

I have a Marlin Trapper in 45/70 with a mid west industries M-loc hand guard. I been eyeing up there new 1894 CST so I would have a little brother of my Trapper and I have a 357 Smith N Wesson wheel gun to spread the ammo around. Then I would have to look at the new desert eagle in 357 magnum for a semi auto flavor...all justified right...am I right

That's about the going price. I've had several over the years and have an original now. Really neat guns

I owe the poster who stated Deerfield carbine. I looked it up and Ruger did make one for a very short period. I’ve never seen one

I had the marlin .44 mag and it was a sweet shooting gun. Pretty accurate iron sights out to about 50 yards. Couldn't hit the USS Nimitz any further out than that.
