I've been bitten twice. Second time was no big deal as I knew what it was & just took care of it that day. The first time, I was camping at the Buffal River. Must have been in the tent. It just formed a bunch of puss bumps in a circle where it was eating away at the flesh. By day 3, I couldn't walk & had a good bit of flesh eaten away. Nice scar it left.

I too have a hole in my leg larger than a quarter from a recluse. They had to scoop the shite out & pack it with gauze.

I have heard varying accounts. I saw on TV that it is some of the worst pain because the venom attacks your nerves but then I have heard others say it was painful but no big deal.
Getting bit where your friend got bit is a big deal.

I got bit by a brown recluse and it wasn't that bad, but the wound wouldn't heal. I went to a dermatologist and he excised it, then I had an allergic reaction to the stitches. Now I have a big arse scar on my arm.
