PPs and Raptors are not worth it.
I agree with you. I have had them on 3 boats and I have always had problems with them. Hell yes the customer service is excellent because they are always having stuff break down. Leaks, bad pumps, etc. It really shouldn't be that damn complicated.

Been having my first set, Raptors, for a year and will never be without them again. They get used a lot and so far not a hiccup. I could see where they’d be useless but where and how I typically fish these things are fantastic and get used 20 times more than spotlock which itself is a must have for me

I have one but I really wish I would have had the funds for 2 when I bought it. It will hold the boat but the boat spins like crazy in the wind. Check out wackyriggers.com. When I bought mine about 4 years ago they beat everyones price by far and it was at my house the next day with free shipping.

generally lower it 1/3 to 1/2 way so it is out of the way.

reason for 2 over 1?
yeah most fresh water guys have 2 to hold the front in the spot.
a single can cause the boat to swing around with the wind.
OP - I'd say one is def. worth it. 2 is just spending money...

You're doing something wrong, mine is 10 yrs old and almost dead but i contributed greatly to it's demise.

My first power pole had two issues - pinhole leak in a hose. It wasn’t the easiest thing to change but it wasn’t terrible either. The hoses are upgraded now. They’re much more robust and a whole lot easier to change. The other issue was the pole actually breaking off when I had it jammed into the sandbar in some rough surf. They sent me a new one right away, despite it being a second hand PP.
2nd boat with power pole, had it for about 8 years, no issues.
I have a newer (2018) power pole sportsman on my gator tail and the circuit board went out. Existing issue they were having. They sent a replacement out of warranty and I swapped them out in 5 minutes.
The Bay boat has two of them and haven’t had any issues in the past 3 years of owning them…. Boat was used (2018) so not sure how old they are.
As far as boat stuff goes, they’re easy to work on. Everything is prone to breaking once in a while, but a PP is one of those things I said I’d couldn’t go without after owning one. (Although, if I had to only choose 1 for a bay boat, I’d get an I-pilot before getting a power pole).
Edit: I should also say that anyone who can’t or doesn’t want to do work on their boats, should minimize the accessories on them. More shite = more shite that will break.
