Have a pistol permit? A background check is no longer required. You still have to fill out the 4473 because it’s a log of the firearm leaving the FFL, but the FFL won’t run the background check.

Louisiana has done this for several years, I still have to fill out the form but they don't call it in at all

Weird that it's not already allowable across the board. A federal law giving exceptions to certain states. Is that common?

Before constitutional carry came to be..my local sheriff clerk (old guy) laughed at me when I told him hopefully we wouldn’t need it here one day - as I handed him my $20 for the permission slip (for a single year).

Screw em. I’ve never waited more than 15 minutes at my lgs.

I rarely travel anywhere where reciprocity would be an issue.

Edited to add…Jefferson county is $7.50/year or $37.50 for 5 years. My county is still $20/year. I understand the population difference (Jefferson is 5x more populated)…but you would think the sheriff would rather have some money to blow vs none.
