As others have mentioned, don't get a tidewe.

If you want to keep the cost down I've got a barely used Badlands MRK3 size medium that is gathering dust and won't cost you much.

If that doesn't suit you, another brand to be sure to look at that I don't think I've seen mentioned is Seek Outside. Colorado company that makes great stuff. I have one of their packs and it's fantastic. I emailed with them quite a bit to make sure I got the right pack and fit and they were very helpful.

edit: here's the site for their hunting packs. LINK

I ended up with the divide 2.0 as a pack that will primarily be used for backpacking with less frequent hunting/meat hauling duty.

I have no complaints for the ebrelstock other than just trying to put all my gear on ozempic. It’s amazing how having just a spotting scope or an extra Nalgene of water in a pack is noticeable.
My pack is a discontinued model blue widow and is about 6# or so and I bought it 10yrs or so ago for ~250$ or so, when you hual it around the mounts for a week you are willing to pay an additional 200-300$ to shave 2-3 pounds off of it!!

exo mountain gear packs are designed specifically to pack out meat. Go to their website and poke around and you’ll see the system

They recently upgraded to a new model (K4) so there are tons on K3’s for sale on used gear places. I have a K3 and love it.

The pack levers away from the frame at the top (stays attached at the bottom) so the system is to support and attach the meat bags at the top of the frame and then cinch the pack over the meat bags. It works really well

The recent trend of hunting gear having a lot of tactical crossover influence is really nice. Its amazing how good and expensive the gear has gotten lately.

they're definitely heavy as hell, and don't have any of the standard gregory/northface (and all the equivalents) stretchy technology or wicking or whatever. they're built to beat the dog-shite out of, and have zero concern.
but yeah, they're heavy.

I use the K3 for backpacking…not hauling meat but the functionality is the same. You can anchor heavy shite to the frame up top (usually water) and not inside the pack. Plus it’s super comfortable

It wasn’t cheap but neither is traveling to go hiking. Good gear is worth the cheese

I have a KUIU Venture 2300 that I caught on sale and it is perfect. I also have a Horn Hunter Mainbeam and had a Horn Hunter Full Curl Light G3 combo. The Horn Hunters are fine, but KUIU substantially more comfy and well made. I have also used a Mystery Ranch Treehouse and it was pretty sweet.

Revisiting this thread.

I have a pedal bike that I use out in the woods. In doing so, I have to keep my bow strapped on my backpack. The bow can fit but I am worried about my eberlestock straps cutting into the bow string (I just got the thing restrung). How do you normally keep the bow on an eberlestock without this issue occurring? I have read on previous threads you use a pedal bike sometimes.

Thanks
