They never left . I see them all the time around my house and when I fish bayou black.

Had one rob us of a wounded green wing in the middle of the pond a few years ago

It is not uncommon to see 2 or 3 in a block of freshly cut sugarcane where I farm. They were out in full force last year.

My sister lives on the Amite River on the ascension side and there are a couple who nest on the river. Beautiful birds.

Go back to the post about the ornithologist monitoring the birds to see if the work you were doing was stressing the birds. This is crap when someone's opinion over rides common sense, and there are scads of cases where the government will tell you what you can and cannot do with your land because there are eagles on it.
I love seeing them but when the government gets involved it sucks

I'm on a fishing trip up in north central Arkansas. Have seen several up here on the river.

Yep, I love watching eagles but when the govt. tells you that you can't build a house because they have a nest that is nonsense. They are no longer endangered. If the nest we found were much closer we could have a big problem. As it is we are keeping our mouths shut since I don't think anyone else knows where this nest is.
