Worth it. I have 4 pairs. Wear them daily and they last 2-3 years then darn tough will replace them if a hole wears in them. They don't stretch out or lose shape.

Honest question. Where in Louisiana do we need base layers? im in my 50's have never needed it anywhere.
You can wear the base layer and something light over it. Ive gotten to where i wear merino base during turkey season. Wicks sweat better than anything, and never stinks. Once you try it.. you will understand. First lite for me. I have the really thin one, and mid weight one. Never gotten heavy weight

I wear my wool base layer stuff all the time. If it's in the 50's or below, i generally wear it and layer over it as needed if I'm going to be out for a whole day or two.

This has not been my experience. The one's I'm wearing right now are stretched out in the calf more than pretty much any other reputable brand I have tried.
Current favorite sock is DeFeet. I've been using the wooleator and cush wool blend versons for summer/coolish weather and will give the woolie boolie a shot this winter. Very impressed so far

Recommend first lite as well. I have some lighter and some heavier ones, all are great. That's the best thing they sell TBH. Sitka and other brands are better for the outer layers.

yep, a lightweight quarter-sip merino shirt is pretty much the first thing I put on fall-spring for anything outdoors from hunting to skiing. I don't even bother to wear camo or whatever over it most of the time when I'm hunting, all of mine are brownish. I don't start getting the urge to pull it off until it gets into the 70s and even then it's still tolerable.
for bottoms, I really like 3/4 length full zips. We frequently have cold mornings and warm afternoons and I tend to hike very warm. Being able to strip those off without having to take off boots or waders or skis or whatever is awesome.

Damn. My calves must be smaller than I thought they were.

FYI I just ordered some 3/4 zip off pants from MTN ops for $40. They’re on sale for $50… use coupon “newcustomer” to get free shipping and an additional 20% off.

Anybody able to tell any difference in Merino and Alpaca? The marketing says Alpaca is better but I've got socks in both and honestly I can't tell. My feet are warm either way. But I'm in N LA.

Never worn their base layers except longjohns, but I love their products in general. Their hot weather stuff is fantastic. Wear their shorts fishing regularly. I'll have to give more of their cold weather gear a try
