Bass Cat Pantera Classic

Any of you fellas run a Bass Cat Pantera Classic? I’m looking to upgrade my 30yr old Stratos and Johnson with a Pantera Classic. Couple buddies run a Cougar and a Puma and I really like them but don’t want that big of a boat. Will be fishing inland bayous with occasional trips to Toledo Bend and maybe Rayburn. My oldest wants to fish in high school tournaments and we’ll fish local open tournaments around home.
Also like the front deck space of the Classic verses the Pantera II due to always fishing 3 people (myself and 2 boys).
Any and all pros and cons are welcome. Thanks gang!

If money is no object find the best fit for you .I've run skeeters for years. Ranger and Phoenix are up there. Lots of good boats being made features and electronics are what drive up the cost. IMO slightly used is the way to go .Good luck

Yes, slightly used is probably the route I’m taking.

Pros:
It's a Basscat. My boat repair guy, who I have used for decades, never fails to compliment this brand and he says one will be his next boat. That's based upon the glass and overall build.
The wider deck of the Premium Series vs the Advantage Series(P2 and Sabre)
Great bilge access(again, better than Advantage series)
Center rod box - I like this because there are no rods sitting on your box lid when you need access.
Under seat storage.
Cons:
The livewell system. I just hate it. It drains into the bilge. There is no timer for fresh water, only for aeration.
I have read that some of the components are not as high quality, but can't give you exactly what they are. Maybe the resin? Latches for sure.
BCB sees this as an intro boat. Bubble trim on P2 vs. cheaper stuff on the classic. Higher grade carper on the P2.
This is a quote from BCB:
quote:
The Pantera II Model was brought out in the SP series to prevent core tournament anglers from buying a Pantera Classic. This was done based on the deck width at the bow, with the beam forward concept.
The Pantera Classic is not built with hard core angler in mind, it is a start up high school, college and and older, or less serious crowd. In the first we saw anglers moving there because of the deck beam, thus the Pantera II SP. They wanted to improve the Bass Cat user experience and they almost immediately noticed the trend on those buyers. Thus the Pantera II gives them an option.
We haven’t seen the videos and the content of videos by those who don’t know every reason and they become an opinion on their views. Nothing wrong with that view though it’s a real good question on the Pantera Classic and it’s intent.
There is more “beef” in a Pantera II than a Pantera Classic from aspects. Though we honestly have not worked on a single Pantera Classic that failed. We have worked on two that have impacts and both we cut apart to check for failures, no failures existed and those were both user related.
BCB
Why did I choose the P2 over the Classic? Not any one reason, but the livewell system and overall length were the two biggest. I knew I could fit the P2 in my garage but wasn't sure on the Classic. That, and I had so many failed cheap components on prior boats, I wanted premium latches and whatnot.

From what you quoted from BCB’s it seems the classic is exactly what I need. This boat will sit up probably 2-3 months durning hunting season. Non ethanol is all I put in boats. It will be in my shed and yes I keep batteries charged and crank her up every now and then with the hose pipe and ears.
If this boat last as long as my old Stratos then it’ll be my last bass boat. We are not hardcore tournament anglers but do fish couple local tournaments a year and fish the bass spawn around home.
