I've been looking into these big bore air rifles as they are powerful enough to harvest large game.

In my late night thoughts it seems that being able to refill with a hand pump and mold my own projectiles would make them the most viable long term survival weapon. Basically you'd never run out of ammo as long as you had a hand pump, lead and a mold.

Anyone have much experience with these? Maybe it's just my inner kid wanting the ultimate pellet gun lol
As a kid I never would have imagined a pellet gun packing more power than a 45

50 caliber airgun

I’ve got like 50 guns and a bazillion rounds of ammo.

I’m taking a .22, .223 and all the ammo I can carry.

Also I’ve been on this earth 43 years and don’t see any long term survival modes needed within the next 4 years

Ita just a late night peace of mind thing. Making ammo is hard...making powder isn't exactly easy.

The idea of that kind of power with a hand pump and casting my own projectiles interests me.

Or...maybe my inner child just wants a ridiculous pellet gun that can blow through a car lol

I'm always thinking about long term survival situations. It's my go too when I'm trying to fall asleep. I had to have my thyroid ablated when I was 27 which means I will die without synthetic thyroid medication. I don't like the idea of getting medication that keeps me alive in 30 day intervals so I have a 20 year supply on hand.

If you are planning on using a pump to refill the air tank you must have some good cardio………..
I bought a HPA compressor for mine…..

the air rifle in the OP's link claims that it makes 925 fps with a 225gr projectile for 450 ft lbs of muzzle energy - that's roughly .45ACP territory so COULD you use it on large game, perhaps but I wouldn't

guy at a gun show one time was selling .50 cal air rifles and had a picture of a bear that he claims he took with one.

i believe the ballistics, its the longevity of the gun im not convinced of. 3000+ psi is a load.

not a bad idea as you’d have almost unlimited supply of wheel weights to cast with. It won’t be portable though there little chance it will be practical to manually pump. After your dozen shots you’d better be safe

honestly, if I have to survive longer than my ammo supply will last, circumstances will have changed dramatically and it’s likely the danger to me will either be mitigated or more than I can handle with any amount of ammo
