I’ve fished Big Lake a lot but never then.

But I’ve got some folks coming in from Nashville who want to go then.

Is it worth it?

Sure, reds one after another tight lining at one of the wiers.
It’s not my thing but customers really get a kick out of them.

They are solid meat haul trips for sure.

You can run into the occasional big girl too

Depends on the weather and how tough you are.

I've fished more Thanksgiving and December the last ten years than any other time. (Life as a coach)

But when it gets salty up north it gets real good. Otherwise- reds on the rocks and weirs.

Gotta add a little something to it to up the stakes. When we go, if you catch a black drum you have to buy a round of drinks

I just pray there’s a tip involved after half shelling a dozen of those tuff bastids.

100% this. Can be freezing with rain, or feel like fall still. But if its sunny and not too cold a good time can be had!

24 with a 20 mph NE wind, parish was cutting off the water at C Pt when we left heading south.
I looked like the Michelin man, the two from Seattle were in sweat pants. Probably caught and released 35-40, 8 were legal. Handle of makers mark made it all better.

Some of the most fun fishing of my life is at the wiers in December on Big Lake.
