On the same camera, I regularly see rabbits, squirrels, foxes, and an occasional coyote. Perhaps that's why the cat appears well nourished. I just added another camera to the area to try to get a better pic -- but I may not ever see it again. Anyway, I think it's pretty cool. But I don't hunt or raise chickens or other small animals.

Are they really that big of a threat to deer? Seems there are plenty when I drive around

No. They've been coexisting in these same woods for thousands of years and long before humans decided to move in. The little creatures will be ok.

Yeah, because back before wildlife had man to help it out, there were no turkeys, rabbits, or fawns.

I assure you the deer, turkey, and rabbit population will survive.

Seems I struck a nerve with some folks over my comment.

Sure, they've been balancing out their populations wonderfully without mans interference for years but man interferes way too much now. I wont get into all the imbalances out there but Im not gonna sit by and let a predator pass just so it can eat something I could be eating

Well in my neck of the woods, a deer, rabbit, and turkey have as hard of time surviving as they ever have. If I can take out a predator or two or 10 to help that, it would be my pleasure

I guess it all depends on the population of the predator. I started a thread earlier in the year about whether or not you would shoot a fox. The same kinda goes for a bobcat in my neck of the woods. We don't see many so I pass on shooting Bobcats and Foxes. Now if a coyote comes out, he's getting shot. Our coyote population isnt bad, but we see plenty.

Now if we start seeing Bobcats on a lot of hunts...my mindset will probably change.

Well I get that he's a predator, but they've got a role to play in the ecosystem as well. I really don't care if you shoot them or not, but it seems to be pointless to just shoot something that isn't a nuisance or threat. JMO.

I have a big male that follows me to my stand every morning hunt I make. First couple of times I would notice his tracks in my footprints on my way out in the morning, then one day as I was climbing up I turned around and hi was at the bottom of the ladder looking up at me. I told my FIL who was hunting my stand no to shoot my pet bobcat and told him the story. He laughed and said I was full of shite. As soon as he sat down and looked up he was standing there looking at him.

Well in my opinion if it kills one gobbler or one fawn it qualifies.

And for the record, I can't put a game camera up anywhere without getting a yote or bobcat on it.
