Has anyone had any luck finding buck brush seedlings for sale anywhere? (Not exactly sure what the plant is called - but we have always called it "buck brush")

Wanting to plant them in a break behind our house to the enhance existing duck roost, but cant seem to find any seedings etc.

Anyone purchased any? or any experience graphing existing plants from the river/swamp?

ETA: not sure the technical name of the plant - just that we call it "buck brush"

Cant help you sourcing them, but I think what you are referring to is Buttonbush, Cephalanthus occidentalis. I always called it buckbrush or button willow. Hopefully, using the technically correct name will make it easier to find.

We have one planted in our landscaping from a previous homeowner.

Also called buttonbush.

I have a ton of it on my lake. I don't know if the seed is the best way to propagate it.

butterflies love it.

Looks like you just shove stakes in the ground.

Button Willows.

I figured any moist soil unit would have them come up around the edges naturally in the spring if you didn't brush hog.

I can only assume he is talking about buttonbush or either swamp privet. Those are the common ones I think of when people say “Buck Brush”.
I have used the company I linked. I bought 500 nutalls last year to plant in a GTR project. I know other habitat managers in Arkansas that use that company also.
Mossy oak sales them also.

Edit: sorry I forgot to say I have planted cuttings of button bush also. Cut in the spring and placed them in water to help roots grow and then plant them in the mud.

Make sure they have a lot of sun.

Check with IFCO near Deridder. They likely grow some button bush. If they don't have it, call the NRCS and see where they're sourcing it for the WRE plantings they do each year.

Thanks everyone. Looks like I should should start calling it by its proper name and that would solve finding seedlings.

Most places are sold out, but found a few that have them in stock as well as called NRCS.

I’ve found them at native plant nurseries. You can propagate by cuttings now if you have access to any.
