Get the 9, much cheaper and the ballistic difference between 9 and 40 is minimal

Agreed with KR.

With the right ammo they're about on par. And with 9mm you get an extra round in the mag.

Also, good luck finding a Shield.

Ruger SR9c

Looking at these. Sounds like you like yours. I like the feel of them. Fits my hand good.

Not planning on CC. What is a good holster for wearing on belt. To take out to the farm or stand.

I pick up my new piece on Thursday, I'll holla.

Gotta get the old lady onboard, I got rid of the 380 I got for her, wants nothing to do with it. I got her a fire extinguisher worth of pepper spray :(

You will like the Shield. I bought a 9mm for the wife & now I'm trying to figure out how to get it back ! May buy her a .380 & swap - LOL.
No kidding tho, it's a great compact pistol and accurate for the size. Good luck finding one - have to be diligent !

It's funny that you said this gun because this is the one that i keep coming back to after doing hours of research.

Fobus makes some pretty basic paddle holsters for most handguns. I have one for my SR9c that I like and it's OWB.

I did a review of it on Youtube a while back. My opinion of it has changed a bit since then as it has grown on me some. But here was my old video. I may remake it entirely.

Mikeytg,
I've never owned a Kimber. From reading on the 'net, lots of folks love 'em, but some folks have had quality control type problems. Every gun maker turns out a lemon every now and then; as long as it's not TOO frequent, the main thing is that they fix it right, the first time and promptly.

The Kimber Ultra Carry 2 appears to be an aluminum framed 1911 gun weighing 25 oz and has a 3" barrel. It has nice looking sights. Magazine capacity is 7 rounds. It retails for $896.

The Kimber Ultra Carry 2 is also an aluminum framed 1911 weighing 28 oz, but has a 4" barrel. It has Crimson Trace laser sights. Mag capacity is 8 rounds. Retail price is $1176.

Both should be fine guns. Tradition thought is that 1911's w/ barrels shorter than 4" don't run as well as those w/ longer barrels. OTOH, there are a lot of shorter barreled 1911's that run just fine. I have a 4.25" barreled 1911 as well as a 3.5" barreled 1911. Both have steel frames so they are heavier than the two Kimbers. Both conceal easily. IF reliable and IF the shooter trains sufficiently to learn the manual of arms, both Kimbers should make fine cc guns. The main difference between the two is 1" of barrel, 1 round capacity, a few oz in wt and the laser sights. Another question is whether you can shoot the 3" barreled 1911 as well as you can the 4" barreled gun? Both my 1911's are an active part of my rotation. Try shooting the different sized 1911's if you can before making a decision. Good luck and keep us up to date.

What they said. My XDM 9 holds 20. That should be enough.

i would like an external saftey.

That rules out ALL Glocks and a large number of handguns are primarly aimed at the cc crowd (Kel-Tec, Kahr, some Sigs are a few that come to mind), but there are a BUNCH of guns still in consideration.

how do you compare the SR9 to the CZ 07 duty?

I shot both, I just bought the CZ. It's incredibly solid for a plastic gun. The magazine I believe is higher cap and it falls right out.

Smoothest action of any gun I played with. I love mine.
