Ordered an Alleycat 308 around Independence Day from Peice of Mind. I had it in hand 2 weeks later. My local shop uses SilencerShop. It took longer to get the scope and rings in. I mounted it all today on a Tikka ranch 308 with a 16” barrel.
WOW. I was only able to shoot 9 rounds, but damn, it was awesome. It definitely isn’t 22 subs quiet but I used zero ear protection and didn’t need it. Also almost zero recoil. So much fun to shoot. Tikka was also touching holes. I didn’t have enough time to dial it in, but can’t wait to shoot again tomorrow. Only con I can see, is it gets hot quick. It cools down quick though, and I don’t see that being an issue on a bolt deer rifle.
Also shot Norma 150 that I bought for super cheap thanks to the OB.

I’ve got a bunch of nice rifles in all calibers and barrel lengths but they are all paperweights now. I haven’t hunted with anything else since I got a 16 inch bolt .308 with a suppressor on it. So light and easy to carry in and out of the woods, not to mention how much easier they are in a box blind.

I’m as giddy as I was the first time I shot a suppressed 22. I can’t wipe the smile off of my face.
What ammo are you shooting?

Many a youth rifle started out as the kid gun, until dad carried it to the stand and then it was just the gun.

6.5 grendel or AR-10 in .308 either with 16” barrels might be the perfect blind gun.

Although I have a bolt action in .308 with a 16” barrel and it’s pretty great as well

I have a JL, mainly because I wanted HUB. At the time there was some negative things going around about the Spooky1’s, so i wanted the ability to pick whatever mount i wanted. They have since come out with brakes and the AI stuff, so in hindsight I would have gone Alleycat since it has an extra baffle. I would like to see how it scores on Pew Science against the Vent 1 with the extra baffle, since that puts them a little closer to the same length. You are doing yourself a disservice if you haven’t shot 300blk subs yet, they are suppressed .22 level quiet

I have a Wilson Combat 6.8 SPC with a Thermion XP50 2 on it and I haven’t been very happy with the performance from the 6.8. Maybe I just suck but every time I shoot a damn pig at night it seems to run off and it’s worse after my first shot. My brother has .308 and it’s seems to do better.

The Wilson Combat .308 ultralight hunter is on my short list.
